+GEO-BREIN
Okay ... here we are again. 2.5 years ago I asked the question why we continuously have to change are language back from English to Dutch on geocaching.com. That time I got the answer that minor bug fixes were something for the near future. Now 2.5 years later the problem still occurs. And no ... it has nothing to do with the use of an Android app c:geo!!! I did some questioning on different geocaching Facebook groups and a lot of people encounter this problem without using c:geo!!! Also it has nothing to do with the lose off cookies. That I know because my cookies doesn't get cleaned on my desktop PC until I want them to be cleaned. Still I have to change the language back several times a week. Sometimes even several times a day. So ... my guess is that there's still something wrong with your language system. Can there be done something about it? Quote Link to comment
Lebbetter
Hi RHCV, this is Annika from Geocaching HQ. Since a few months, I am the point person for Localization and would love to help you to get to the bottom of this. It is interesting to hear, that you experience this issue as well, even if you are not using c:geo. We were able to confirm that performing an action that connects c:geo to the website (such as logging a cache) did reset the user's language to English. I tried that myself and it happened for me. We thought that we found the cause but thank you for letting us know that there must also be another reason this is happening. As there have been only a few isolated reports of this behavior and we have not been able to reproduce this from our end (besides when logging with c:geo), we would appreciate if you could provide us with some more information. Are you or the other geocachers you mentioned using any other software or apps that is accessing geocaching.com? Do you remember, if you might have used one of these programs on the days you had to adjust your language setting several times? Also, do you tend to log in via Facebook, or via the Geocaching.com login fields? Are you running any particular anti-virus software? Looking forward to your responses and hope that we can figure out together what is causing this issue for you and your friends! - Annika Quote Link to comment
+GEO-BREIN
I will get you detailed information soon. I'm trying to gather all the information of people who also have this problem. I want to make a list of the nicknames, the programs they use and how often the problem occurs. For me it's because of the use of c:geo (now it is), but before I used c:geo I also had that problem with the language. In the meanwhile there are a lot of speculations in different groups about what could cause this problem: cookies, c:geo, GAPP, GSAK, GDAK, other programs ... it's difficult to retrieve that kind of information because a lot of people are complaining but all in a different way. One doesn't use c:geo but uses other geocaching applications, etc. I'll do my best to provide you with enough information soon. http://1drv.ms/1wLOM0L Edited October 31, 2014 by RHCV Quote Link to comment

Other applications or websites can do the same. As for the document I was making: I pulled out the plug. Some developers didn't like the fact that I was gathering information about their applications. They say that GS can't do anything about it (which I think otherwise) and that the problem lays with the applications who probably don't approach gc.com the proper way. As for that we are put with our backs against the wall. I'll try to find another way to give GS some feedback about this problem. I know why I have this problem. It's because I use c:geo sometimes. Other people say that they don't but won't give any more information. So ... it's a dead end for now. Strange, I think, all complaining about the same but if you ask for information they all shut down. Quote Link to comment
+ASST 0815
Hi All, I have the same problem, i.e. language preference is always set back to English (from German) after using the c:geo App to log a cache. But today I realised that only the preference setting for language and time zone is changed but not the prefernce setting for date format. In my eyes it's just a software bug that should be solved shortly. I don't undestand why it is so difficult to keep any Apps away from changing website preferences. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
If you use the c:geo app, you don't need to post in this thread. That is a known problem and you should complain to the developer of that unauthorized application. If you experience language changes for OTHER reasons, please describe them here as requested.
