New Mexico County Challenge

Is there not a regular New Mexico County Challenge like other states have other than the New Mexico 33 which has several caches either archived or disabled? We travel through the state quite often and would like to complete a county challenge but the one that exists is not doable!! Thanks. 1linden

What challenge exists but isn't doable? I haven't found an 'all county' challenge yet, but I did find a New Mexico Delorme Challenge. I know it's not the same as the county, but it's as close as I could do this afternoon.

The challenge that I am talking about has no GC code or D/T. It is set up so that they tell you what cache that you have to get in what county and take a pic of yourself at the coords as proof. There are 33 counties in New Mexico and 5 of there required caches are archived and 1 is disabled. THAT makes this challenge NOT doable. Go to google and put in - New Mexico county challenge..

I was surprised that there was no county challenge cache in NM as well. While we're in El Paso, my goal is to complete the NM Delorme, and I plan to go ahead ad find a cache in every NM county as well. Too bad there is no challenge cache I'd be able to log for it. I'd ask one of the local cachers to create one, as I will only be here for another year, but with the moratorium on challenge caches, I don't think they'd be able to before we move.

GC3050Z  You do not need to solve the puzzle if you find a cache in each county.

The original 2007 NM challenge is still doable but as each cache was a stand alone and there was never a final cache, it may not be what you are looking for. The point then was just get people to expand their trip through the state and in 2007, there were 8 counties with no caches. If you are doing the original 33 and find one archived, it's fine to log a nearby cache and note on the archived page which cache you used. It only matters if you live in NM and want a personal, custom cache created for you. That's limited to New Mexicans because after you find your custom cache, it becomes yours and maintenance by out of staters would be a problem.  This is also covered on the profile page of  NMGeocaching.
