Release Notes

There was again a lot of behind-the-scenes activity this sprint, but here are some highlights of things that you will be able to see:

  • Date fields on map info bubbles: When viewing the info bubble on /map for any cache, the date format will now correctly display in the user's chosen format.

  • Corrected coordinates in PQ results viewed on map: When a Premium user views a Pocket Query on the /map, any caches with "corrected coordinates" will now display in the new location.

  • Miscellany:

    • Media FAQ updated with latest version PDF

    • French cache notes updated

Very glad to see this one finally happen! Thanks!

Agreed! This is good news indeed.

Hi I could not see a release notes for today so posting this here.

I am unable to upload pictures, with GSAK erroring intially, I came to the site to do it and was rejected again with an error message saying:

  • Something went wrong with the image upload, please try again later.

I will leave it with you :) PS great to see the corrected coordinates being sorted :D

I have the exact same problem. It's not YOU, it's THEM

Same here....I've been trying to upload pictures for a bit now. Nothing. I could do it via my iPhone app just before the offline upgrade but nothing now. The logs won't send via the app if there's a photo attached, and I can't do it via GC.com

In case anyone thinks this is app or GSAK related, I'm having the same problem uploading pictures through GC.com's normal log editing screens.

I also got the error when trying to upload an image just now (10 pm PDT).

In addition, when I uploaded my field note file, it took several minutes and then told me there were 0 new field notes, rather than the expected 1. I checked and the field note I was expecting did indeed upload, but something funny was definitely going on during the upload process.

Edit to clarify: The above was all through the website, not the API.

Wap site got broken today (ok yesterday). Can't login, error message follows:

Could not load file or assembly 'Groundspeak.Utilities, Version=1.0.0.6, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

So now I'm unable to log anything with my mobile, which native and only browser is Opera mini, which your site deliberately blocks for some parts, such as logging and viewing/editing single log entries. (Still don't get your logic to block authenticated users, because they are "anonymous".)

BTW, Opera mini uses IP-space 80.239.242.0 - 80.239.243.255 according to the maintainer of our local caching site, if you decide to do something about the 403.6 - Forbidden 'feature'.

Not a problem there, but for some reason my iPhone app doesn't get a better accuracy than 65m now  It looks like I'm stuck on one set of coordinates. Mind you, it's a different coordinate around this one 65m accuracy point I'm getting stuck on every time. It looks like the app connects to the GPS, accepts the first bit of data it receives and goes to sleep. When I move around I need a substantial distance from my original point until something happens.

All working as intended today :D

Nope. None of my caches in my completed puzzles PQ show up at their corrected coordinates. None of them.

This is on my iPad GC.com official app. When my iPhone is done backing up I'll check there too.

More info...

If I go to GC.com and go to my PQ tab, I can select the complete puzzle query, and see the correct locations on there. So it works on the website (Safari, iOS 7, iPad 3rd gen) but...

Does not work on my iPad official app (all updated)

Does not work on my iPhone (official app)

I'd much prefer this to work on my mobile app, since that's kinda the whole point. When I'm out and about, I want to see if there are any nearby puzzles I've solved or stages of a multi that are close.

If I'm not mistaken, this rlease note only pertains to the web site. The apps each have their own release notes. It is not unusual for a feature or a change to go in on any one of these and not some or any of the others. But I agree, it would be great to see this on the mobile apps as well.

Shoot. I guess so...

Am I the only one experiencing that log dates and bookmark lists are no longer "sticky"? It used to be that if you bookmarked a cache, then the next time you tried to bookmark something in the same browser session, it would remember what list you chose last time. Same for log dates. Today I notice that bookmark lists default to the top item in the list, and log dates to today's date.

These issues are not related to the Oct. 29th release but rather a change to the account service that was made yesterday. I have notified engineering of the problem.

Did you bury wap.geocaching.com completely? seems to redirect to the ordinary bloat site now...[:(]

Seriously, in nine years, I've probably used the WAP site nine times. Does that mean it's important to keep around??? I don't know. Since my phone is dumb, I haven't really needed it, but it's been nice to know it is there.

So I can see my solved puzzles on the PQ at the right places now. BUT I have about 100 Puzzles solved and the coords changed but not yet picked them up. How can I distinguish them from all the other unsolved puzzles? Do the engineers also work on a new icon for solved puzzles (like an ! instead of the ?) that appears on gc.com AND on the GPS?
