+Malpas Wanderer
I struggle to get my head round why someone steals a coin registered to another person and puts into circulation a paper/card copy. If the logs come to the original owner I can't fathom why the thief steals the proper coin. It's happened several times to me. The hurt is that a copy has been made and my character slurred by being perceived as releasing something substandard to what it should be. Hoping someone can explain the logic behind such acts. +Droo
There is no logic as the acts are entirely thoughtless, selfish and self centered.... it's really very childish. Don't worry about your reputation as relates to the proxies you're forced to put out as no one is going to care about the stranger at the other end of the tracking link. In fact why even bother since any feedback you'll get is going to be on the negative side anyway. Anyway, join the club. If you're a coin owner and have released any you will have to suffer the loss of stolen or missing geocoins. It's a fact of life. As many have said in the past: "if you can't bear to lose geocoins don't leave them out in the woods". Sorry for your loss. Edited October 28, 2014 by Droo Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
There is no logic. They're shiny and look valuable (and some are). What's unusual is someone's supposedly taking the time to write the code on something else as a replacement several times. Quote Link to comment

I don't mind losing them per se that was quite expected. The deliberate act of making that copy is what creates guile. Just don't see the logic. Quote Link to comment
+fbingha
The devious thief believes that leaving a paper copy will make it harder to trace thefts back to the original cache. Leave less of a pattern behind in his cache range. Guile, yes. Quote Link to comment

My guess is they get a high from stealing coins, aka known as, not having to pay for them. Who knows why? They can't sell them easily, they can't show them to anyone. Perhaps they really don't care about the trackable aspect and so it becomes not important to them that they can't be logged online. Quote Link to comment
+MtnMutt-ProDuckShins
It happens and there is not much we can do about. Think about how many folks do not even read what the item represents and it's mission. The coins that I drop off are for certain Cachers and they are told about the location ahead of time so they have a chance to grab before the Hordes go after it. Majority send me a request back for me to discover it so I my see where those coins visit. I even give them to various folks at the Block Party or Going Ape Event. So with what I have said, you are not responsible for someone who is inconsiderate of you or your coin. But thank you for being brave to release that coin so it may have travelled far and could have completed it's mission. Thank you. Quote Link to comment
