I am attempting a download of a pocket query. Message from Adobe says it cannot open file because it is an unsupported file type or the file is damaged(sent to e-mail and wasn't correctly decoded. I downloaded Adobe updates. I also changed browser from Google Chrome to Internet Explorer. I am still getting same message. Thank you.

It sounds as though you are trying to open the PQ.

Do not open it as it does you no good -- it makes sense to your GPSr but not you.

As stated, it is a zipped file. You need to unzip it to load it to the unit... more rather, the unit needs it unzipped, it cannot read a zipped file. Once unzipped, there will (should) be two GPX folders, drag and drop each of them to the unit.

Your browser choice has no bearing on downloading or installation, it is all done outside of browser use.

I will have to take a computer class to learn to unzip, drag and drop. I am really liking Geo-caching and just thought I could download a bunch and go find them.

Thank you for your reply, I know where to start.

Scroll down to Show me how to do paperless caching and click on the compass.

I'm having a similar problem putting the caches from a Pocket Query onto my Garmin GPSmap 62s. I downloaded the Pocket Query onto my laptop, unzipped, dragged and dropped. But my GPS still doesn't show the caches when I scroll down to see which caches are there. I have had no trouble at all putting individual caches onto my Garmin - I just click on the button that says to load onto GPS and it works. I know that I'm doing something wrong, but I have no idea what. I read the suggested resources and watched the videos about Pocket Queries. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Scroll down? Scroll down to where, on what?

I see that you have a fair number of finds. All local? If so, are the newly added caches distant from your location -- say, in excess of 50 miles? If they are a distance away, you need to take special steps to see them in the unit. Set the list to read alphabetically instead of by distance.

Not the problem?

Possibly, as Red90 says, make sure that you drop the files to the Garmin/GPX directory.

Garmin units sometimes do a quirky little thing, also. If using a mSD card, turn the unit off and remove the card. Re-boot and shut the unit down again. Re-insert card and re-boot again. Sometimes they (magically) appear.

12 hours later, $80 poorer, talked to Garmin, talked to Microsoft. I am not totally computer stupid. Shouldn't it be easier than this?

Let's start at the top.

What GPS do you have?

How did you put co-ords on it for your first few finds?

Do you have any pocket queries written and run?

What happens when you plug the GPS into your computer?

And here's an event at the end of the month, you could take your GPS there and get some in person help.

PS. You'll have way better luck here than with Garmin or Microsoft.
