+C.A.K.E.
Hi, I have had my Magellan Explorist GC for about 6 months now. We have been very happy with it overall, but yesterday we tried to us it and can not get any satellite signals. Has anyone had this problem and/or know a fix for it? Quote Link to comment
+SageTracey
I find that the Magellan takes a while to find the satellites and get a fix. I turned on a setting so that the unit beeps when it gets a fix and loses a fix on the satellites. Stops me from wondering where I have satellite or not. If you were indoors or under canopy, it can take a lot longer to get that satellite fix. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
Change out the batteries for brand new ones. It can make a difference. Regarding a slow (very slow) fix, ANY GPSr that has been idle for a long period of time (or moved a long distance since last use) will take a loonngg time to acquire and create a new satellite almanac. Time of acquisition can take up to 1/2-hour, with a clear view of the sky. Longer without a clear view... never inside. Quote Link to comment
+C.A.K.E.
Thanks for the ideas everyone, unfortunately I had it on outside for a couple of hours with no luck. Will be calling Magellan today to see if they have an answer for me. Quote Link to comment
