Kelju
I can not load geocashes to my Monterra any more. Website says loading completed successfully, but I can't find the geogache in my Monterra. At first it worked properly and I managed to load 8 geocashes into my GPS. After that it stopped working. I chanced to different PC and managed to load one geocache, but no more. Now I have run out my PC:s. On the other hand I can not remove useless geocaches from my Monterra. Does anybody have similar experiences? Quote Link to comment

Does anybody have similar experiences? If you only have about 8 Geocaches loaded, there's no urgent need to remove them. But if you connect your GPSr to a USB port, it becomes a USB drive. Go to the folder at [Drive]:\Garmin\GPX and that's where you can manage your GPX files directly. Delete files, and load new GPX files that you saved previously to your computer. Go to "[Drive]:\Garmin\GPX" and be sure the GPX files are there. There are a lot of reasons you may not see any caches on the Monterra. It may be due to a filter. You can hide caches from view with settings. The Monterra is an Android system with wifi, so you have more options for loading and managing GPX files. But the most direct way is downloading files to a PC & unzipping them, and copying the GPX files to the Monterra's "[Drive]:\Garmin\GPX" (or use "Send To" as you have done) as you would with other Garmin GPSrs. You can delete old files, load new ones, with this same process, and this eliminates some of the problems with loading cache files. Edited July 25, 2014 by kunarion Quote Link to comment
Kelju
Thank you Kunarion. Your reply was very helpful. Now I could remove geocashes which I don't need anymore. However I wonder why Garmin has not arranged "remove geocache"-button on the device. Other waypoins can be removed with waypoint manager, but it doesn't work with geocashes. The missing geocaches seem to be in the Monterra drive:\Garmin\GPX , but Monterra doesn't display them for some reason which I don't know. No filter is active. Quote Link to comment
+splashy
'Normally' with waypoint a Garmin gps shows about the 50 nearest waypoints in about a 35 mile radius. This might be the case with geocaches also. (I don't geocache) Quote Link to comment

Because one GPX file can hold scads of caches and removing one would require modifying what could be an immense file (thousands of caches). Since they went to the newer system years ago they have not allowed deleteing individual caches. Edited July 25, 2014 by Walts Hunting Quote Link to comment

If the caches are too far away, they get filtered out automagically, but you can seeif they are on your device, with a search (don't worry, this same thing has happened to all of us ) Quote Link to comment
