TB in same hand for 8 months

And that's all you can do. I hope you were kind and gracious in your email. :)

Many cachers think that if they're showing activity and "visiting" caches with the TB, it's as good or better than having the TB get placed in cache, only to sit there for months until someone else takes it. I'm not sure if there are any official rules on this (and I'm too lazy to look), but that's probably what your current TB holder is thinking.

EDIT: Or it is sitting in a drawer somewhere and is being automatically "visited" to caches by his account settings. ;)

My TB which was for our dog who passed away has been in the hands of a cacher who is not actively caching since November 2013, I have emailed her previously to ask if it can be moved on which she has promised to do so. However since then (January) she has only been on geocachng.com once in March which has not resulted in any further finds or moving the TB on. I've emailed on several occasions now, each time very polite and asking her to place it in a local cache. I really can't understand why she is keeping it, it is nothing special and has no relevance to her, but it holds such a great deal of emotions for us as a family, particularly my son who this was intended to help accept our dogs passing.

I've now had to say it is missing, and emailed her yet again, saying it has affect a child who is now thinking our dog is lost and lonely in America. I'm very reluctant to now spend out money on other TB's.

Here's a thread of info on how to revive a TB, and get it back in play:

I had a couple for several months we had a real hard winter and any time I was at a cache it would not fit either of these TB.

I finally dropped them both at a Maker Madness event. Happy trails!

Don't Don't Don't send out things you are going to be overly attached to..

Don't. :)

I think often that casual cachers are not aware of how to handle trackables.

In March I read an item on a local forum from a cacher who wondered how people can be discovering a TB that she had grabbed and was in her possession at the time of the discovery. A discussion ensued where comments were made about people trying to increase their trackable totals and how people were so obsessed with numbers.

I looked at her profile and discovered that she had the TB in her possession since July 2013. She obtained it from a cache where she traded for a TB that she had in her possession since September 2011, that is 22 months. I mentioned those points in the discussion and there has been no reaction from her as she still has the TB in her possession (9 months)

And that is the risk you take when you send these things out into the world. My trackable is in the hands of someone with 2 finds without a verified email so any hope of tb coming back into play......... I can't even ask if they still have it.

Yes, geocaching is really an interactive game: I hide a cache and you find it; you hide a cache and I find it; I send out a trackable and you move it; you send out a trackable and I move it. Those NVMs never experience the interactivity; to them it's just another smartphone app. Sure wish there was an app that would slap them upside their head and teach them what it's really all about.

In this case you might have a chance, though. When they logged this cache http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC2TEKF_childhood-memories-4 they mentioned being with 2 other people who do have validated emails, so you might be able to get to them through their friends.

Thank You, I hadn't thought about looking back at the other caches they had found. They have only had it a couple of months so I'm not jumping up and down yet about it. My daughter's tb sat around for 6 months before it was dropped off but if it is not moving on by the summer time it is definitely an avenue worth exploring.
