I hope someone from Woodstock, New York got a proposal in. I think it'd be cool to have the 10th there.

It would be cool to have a Geowoodstock in Woodstock but this years Geowoodstock might as well be in New York State as it's just across the NY/PA border.

Thanks. JoGPS said it would be announced in Feb 2011. That's why I was wondering. Thanks again.

Please have it in PA, somewhere near me, like towards philadelphia. Heck, you could even put it up in the mountains they aren't far from me, better yet, put it in Wharton in New Jersey, nice woods there. But Warren County? That's not doable by any means. How can one make a day-trip out of a 5 and a half our drive?

I bet you lots of foldin' money that folks from your area make the trip and at least a few will make a day trip of it.

I'd say if it is ever within 10 hours of you It's worth the drive.... more than that and it's easier to fly! with it being in PA this year, I wouldn't count on it making it back to PA or nearby for several years... demand for it is high and too many folks want it in their "neck of the woods". With it being in the NW last year and NE this year, using an educated guess, I'd edge my money on the SE, SW or MidWest areas as bocoming host for 2012, but stranger things have happened, even though the odds are against it, it could end up in NewJersey next year...

Oh please let it be in New Jersey! Anywhere in new jersey is an easy day-trip.

History has shown it alternates sides of the Mississippi River each year. So, if it follows, 2012 should be west of Mississippi River. 2013, back to the east.

Shall see.

And it has to be someone while a very well organized group with a fabulous history of fund raising.

I really would like a vacation to Utah, Nevada or Colorado. Just saying. ;)

It cracks me up all these people that say they'd like to have it nearby, but then sit there and wait for someone else to do the work

People! If you want it in your area, get a group together, make a plan to host it, and put in a bid.

It will never come to your area unless someone local is willing and able to host it.

Interesting - that is exactly what I did for GW in Bell Buckle. Drove about five hours each way - and had a great time. Arrived by opening. Left after group photo. Life is what you want to do.

For GW IX, drove ten hours to stay with relatives in the area.

When I was younger, and lived in the SF bay area in California I used to take day trips to go skiing in the Sierra Nevada fairly often. It was more like 4 and a half hours each way but it also included 8 hours or so of skiing.

It doesn't have to be a day trip. I went to the one in northern Washington and I live in California. Local cachers here are going to the one in New Jersey. When we co-hosted #6 in Wheatland I worked the check-in stand most of the day. I met folks from Germany, the Netherlands, etc. It certainly wasn't a day trip for them!

New England would be nice. I used to live there. I won't get any new states, but will meet up with old friends, make new ones, and find lots of caches.

San Diego would be another nice place. I'd love an excuse to visit that area even though I have cached in CA and the surrounding states, and NM is a bit far to just run over to.

Somewhere in the heartland like Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa would allow me to add some new states to my maps. That would also be nice.

Like lil devil already stated: Get an organization together, find a suitable venue, and put in a bid! It's the only way that Geowoodstock will come to your area.

PS-you must have people in the group leadership who have attended Geowoodstock as a prereqisite.
