Pup Patrol
Some geocaches are up for adoption near us, I was wondering if it's possible for a Non-Premium member to adopt them? Of course they can. Adopting caches is not a PM benefit. Being a cache owner is not a Premium Member benefit. If the caches are Premium Member Only, the CO would need to change that status before adopting to a Basic Member, to make everyone's life easier. 4.24. +Chocolate Lundi
Thanks I was just checking They are all non-premium caches. So technically, 2 or 3 volunteers from a group could create a new Non-Premium account solely to adopt them? So as not to mess up their stats (finding owned caches) etc? Quote Link to comment

Sounds like you're talking about adopting a power trail. Best thing would be to just let it be archived. As far as messing up stats, i don't see this as doing that. I've only adopted a few caches but it never occurred to me that my stats were messed up. I found the cache, then adopted it later on. My stats now show 1 find for the cache and that i also own it, which is absolutely correct. Quote Link to comment
+TriciaG
I wouldn't recommend 2-3 people doing a group account to maintain caches. The group could only use one email address, so only one person would get notifications (unless you make a new email and everyone has access to it). And it seems like when all are responsible for cache maintenance, then in reality no one is responsible. Know what I mean? Edited October 12, 2016 by TriciaG Quote Link to comment

IMO, if they're worth adopting, they're worth having in your own profile. Quote Link to comment

Know what I mean? +1 The ones in my area most lacking attention are the ones belonging to a "group account". Here, one person is usually the one fixing things anyway, shoulda just had that one person own them . When that one person isn't around, they often go into NMs, and finally archived. I don't understand how adopting a cache affects your stats... If you found a cache, and adopted it later, what does that mess up? Quote Link to comment
