+wizdumb22
I am not sure how this is a good unit...lol. I have tried many different maps and still cannot get used to the huge arrow on the map and lack of detail. Maybe I am spoiled by Google Maps on my phone? I am really not sure but I am looking for something that is easy to use kind of like the Google map app. The zoom in and satellite views are nice on the phone and I don't expect to get it all on a handheld but a little detail would be nice. Does anyone know of any maps to help it along to make it a little easier to handle? Or maybe any ideas on a different unit all together? I appreciate the help. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
Get some maps and load them to the mSD Card. Garmin units, aside from those with a "T" designation have base maps only. Base maps are... well... you see what they are like. Garmin sells maps, there are other downloadable maps both free and paid. Google "GPS maps". The unit is fine... many thousands in use and loved. It's the maps you need to work on.... For what it's worth, Google maps ain't always what they are cracked up to be! Edited October 14, 2014 by Gitchee-Gummee Quote Link to comment

+BAMBOOZLE
I have tried many different maps and still cannot get used to the huge arrow on the map and lack of detail. What 'huge arrow'. On your Etrex you can set up different profiles and modify them to show what you want. I believe the 'stock' Geocaching profile has a compass that takes up most of the screen but if you don't like that you can either change it or choose a different profile. I think he's talking about the pointer showing your location when viewing the map screen....its disproportionally large on all Garmin units. I'm used to it but many have complained that its too big and you can't change it. Quote Link to comment
