Thursday morning AEST 09:08 am - server slow & when attempting to access statistics get a Server 500 error.

Yep, same here just now. The site is overall only slightly slower than normal for me, but images (especially icons) are loading significantly more slowly. Statistics gets me a 500 server error.

I'm pretty sure Groundspeak will fix it, give them some days. :omnomnom: Take your cameras and visit cities with 0 Waymarks, that's fun. We did that on weekend, two cities each with over 10,000 people and 0 Waymarks, so much to discover and if the site runs normal again, keep them coming. :antenna:

On a cold, wet Winter's morning what better to do than add a few Waymarks (hold it, two naval helicopters approaching below the clouds so have to have a look) but wait Waymarking is down. Get this message HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

Oh well perhaps the helicopters will come back & do another fly by.

Maybe its because Waymarking.com use cloudfront.net It is a redirect to Amazon CloudFront.

Amazon CloudFront is a web service for content delivery.

Google cloudfront.net slow and see for yourself.

cloudfront.net has often problems with there speed.

I tried again visibility icons on page profile -> waymark lists...

for example

URL of icon for Payphones category is http://www.Waymarking.com/images/cat_icons/phone2.gif ... I see this icon - that's OK

URL of icon for Baroque Architecture is http://www.Waymarking.com/images/cat_icons/baroque.gif ... but the server return only message '404 - File Not Found - We're sorry, the page you are looking for could not be found' - no comment B)

the missing icons problem it's realy serious

my Grid Count for Posted+Visited is 744 of 1083

during HTML request for this page I counted 168 "404 Not Found" HTML return code => i.e. 168 missing icons/files on server :o :o

so, I'm not surprised for such miserable response time of Waymarking.com

Groundspeak is aware. Being worked on at this time.

Thx for your reply.

Maybe they can finally solve all the problems on Waymarking.com: like SPEED, N/EAST BUG etc. etc. and when it's solved PM all Dutch Waymarkers to come back on Waymarking.

I'm trying to submit massive amounts of new waymarks, but the site has been slow repeatedly for weeks and now I am back logging from my photos which should have already been submitted days ago. It use to take me a day to submit up to 50 or more waymarks and now I'm lucky if I get 5 in a day as the site is extremely slow. Thought it might be the amount of data from my cameras on iPhoto, so I cleaned and deleted some things and that didn't do anything. Thought it might be my computer so I shut it down and restarted. That didn't work. Geocaching seems to be working just fine for me as well as other websites. Are others having the same issue? Does anyone know why this site just went haywire on us without any warning? Is this going to be a repeated issue throughout summer? Any thoughts?

Also, I was trying to submit new waymarks from a vacation over the weekend and I got this error message:

"500 - Server Error

We're sorry, your request has resulted in an error.

If you feel that the page you are looking for should be available, please let us know. Otherwise, you may continue to use the site through its navigation, or browse the links below:"

Does anyone know what this means? I've been getting this a lot lately.
