+saltlakegolfer
I currently have a Magellan Sport Trak Map, which was released YEARS ago. So anything I get at this point new or used will be an improvement. I am looking at a used Oregon 550, they are asking 175.00 for the device. I was also looking at a NEW eTrex 20x, not as many features, but new for roughly the same cost, 170.00 So those are my first 2 options to consider. A 3rd option, would be to hold off altogether, and wait until the Improved Oregon 600 comes down in price, so possibly next year. I really don't want to spend over $200, so any thoughts from the forums will help guide me. Also, given the devices I am thinking about, if there is a unit in that $200 price range I SHOULD be looking at instead, I am open to that also. Thank you, Salty Quote Link to comment
+saltlakegolfer
Well.. my finance officer (wife) opened the vault and I decided to spend a little more and get the new(er) model. I went with the Oregon 600. I think it was worth the 125 extra from the older Oregon 550 unit. Again, any replies positive or negative to my decision are welcome. Salty Quote Link to comment
+Red90
You need to go and look at them and decide for yourself. The software is pretty much the same on all of the Garmin handhelds. It is the size, screen resolution and interface that varies. It is a very personal choice and nobody's opinion matters other than your own. Quote Link to comment

Salty Excellent choice, now you must take the time to learn how to use it efficiently and effectively! Quote Link to comment
+Mineral2
The Oregon 600 is a fine unit. I have one myself and am glad I upgraded from the 450 (550 minus the camera). Just for a point of reference, I bought mine last year when REI had it on sale for $220. Quote Link to comment
