Can anybody tell me anything about it. I mean as far as using it is it any good? What are your thoughts on it? Thanks please help. Quote Link to comment
+Great Scott!
Hmmm...Those are questions to ask before buying a $650 GPS. Quote Link to comment
+StefandD
I use a Monterra for two years now and I'm still impressed with its possibilities. There are still some bugs which Garmin can't seem to solve, but there are workarounds to overcome them. In short, I am fully satisfied with the Monterra! If you want more info, you might want to check the Monterra Wiki. Quote Link to comment
+Viajero Perdido
Nice thing is you don't have to use Garmin's firmware for caching. http://debaere.blogs...-3-android.html Quote Link to comment
capt caper
I am about to try one as well.... I recently used a Montana 600 and now a 610T which is being returned. Garmin is sending a brand new one. It Crashed alot and after recharging or transferring data it wouldn't start up with out taking the battery out and reinstalling it. I could not get the unit to do a hard reset as well. Yesterday it finally won't start up at all. Never Never had issues with the Montana 600..I wanted Glonass and glad I have it as it's so nice but dadgum it . Edited April 14, 2016 by capt caper Quote Link to comment
+bebebrown
Is there a site for geocachers to buy or sell their old GPS items? Quote Link to comment
capt caper
I got my new Monterra last night. Went out for a hike...recorded fine. I saved the track in it. I have a few issues I would like resolved if anyone can help me with. 1. BaseCamp can't see the tracks in it I saved. I used My Computer in Win7 to look into the Monterra and found them in the GPS file. I copied and pasted it into base Camp.. The waypoints I loaded into it show ok. 2. I don't get any beeps..shutting down or turning on etc. What I worry is if the battery or loss of gps signal I'd get no warning beep. I checked the settings a few times for any sound or command and all seems in order.. 3. Wish the icons could be made larger like in the Montana menu options... working with gloves won't work on my man's hands. I like it so far very much...and hope I can tweak it so it is a great unit. I read a review and he said he got only 3 hrs out of it. Well with google, wifi etc off except for Garmins apts it doesn't drain at all. I ran it all night last night and it didn't use any energy. It goes into sleep mode but keeps recording the track or navigating. I like that. I can tuck it away and the screen won't come on at all when touching against the pouch, etc. I used the "Touch Lock" mode on the power button for that. I owned many gps's including a Montana 600 610T... This is a nicer unit I feel so far except for some tweeks I mentioned. Quote Link to comment
