Oxbow Park Geocache

Hope I am posting in the correct area. I was out letterboxing today in Oxbow Park and came across a small baggie with a log in in. It has been well visited. My daughter found it just out on a tree and I re-hid it in the center of the tree. The problem is I cannot find a reference to it on the site. I left a trackable in it, but do not know how to list it. It is located on trail C quite a ways in, in a tree on the left at the second intersection. I would like to be able to update the trackable. I looked it all over and could not find a number of name or anything. It looked like it might have been missing a container maybe. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I agree that you should go back and get the travelbug and then move it to a known active cache. You probably figured out by now that it is not a good idea to put a trackable in an unknown container.

If you are interested in a bit of sleuthing you could take a photo of the log and then compare the names with those on nearby caches or with the geocaching database (Find Another Player on the Your Profile page). This will let you know if it is a gc.com geocache. It could be a geocache from another listing service, though, and I suspect folks use their gc.com cache names at those sites too.

Also check the dates signed to see if it is currently active.

If there are gc.com cache names and the dates are within that past year, or so, then it could be a final of a nearby multi as mentioned above. This might encourage you to do those multi-caches and have some additional fun.

If that doesn't work it might be a cache from another listing site or, if the dates are old, it could be an archived cache or an old letterbox.

There is all kinds of fun to be had with this accidental discovery of yours. B)

Good luck.

There were a lot of sign ins. Some as recent as late June of this year.

I will not be heading back to that park anytime soon. It was a day trip. I left it thinking I would find the location on the website. If anyone is heading that way I will be happy to to send a map picture with the exact location. If you can figure out what one it is, let me know so I can log it, Lol. I am not a Geocacher, but a Letterboxer. Thanks.
