+camper248
My PN 60 is not showing me the distance to the cache. Was working fine yesterday. Any suggestions? I have an email to DeLorme technical staff. Quote Link to comment
+dprovan
Not much to go on. Without knowing exactly where you're expecting a distance and not seeing one, my first guess is that you don't have a cache selected. Until you tell the PN-60 where to go, there's no cache for it to show a distance to. This can be confusing because the Info fields on each page change depending on whether you have a destination dialed up, so you won't see a field that says "distance: no destination selected" or anything like that. If you have a destination set, my second guess is that you accidentally changed activities. Go to the activities menu and make sure you're still geocaching. Each activity has a different set of info fields, so you may have switch to one that doesn't show distance on the page where you're expecting it. If the activity is already geocaching, go to the page where you aren't seeing the distance and go to the "Info fields..." menu option to change what information is displayed on the page. My third guess is that you accidentally changed what was being displayed, although that's hard to do accidentally. Quote Link to comment
39_Steps
This symptom likely indicates that route files in the PN-60 internal memory are corrupted. Enter support mode to delete all routes. (Hold down Page+Menu+Power buttons at startup to enter support mode. Then carefully use menus to delete only routes.) Quote Link to comment
+camper248
thanks I pushed the 3 buttons down but did not like the warning it was showing and I did not see how to delete only the routes. I deleted all but one way point and that seemed to do the trick. Quote Link to comment
39_Steps
@camper248 There is a reset option in PN-60 user System menu, but it may delete more data from internal memory than you desire. All activity profile settings may be set back to default as well. You may want to try again to delete all route files from internal memory, as entering support mode is not as risky as it seems at first glance. Users on the Delorme forum will walk you through it, if you want greater detail, but some will probably suggest a "low level format". The low level format is not required for the issue you reported in my experience, but deletion of all existing routes usually is required to get all geocaching functions routing bells and whistles working properly again. Disclaimer: If you look at my profile on this site, you will see that I have no official cache finds. Quote Link to comment
+camper248
Here is what DeLorme sent Trouble with Route Calculation Errors or errors transferring waypoints, tracks, or geocaches to or from an Earthmate PN Series GPS Performing this reset with a PN-20 or PN-30/PN-40 with the 2.6 firmware will delete all tracks, routes, geocaches, and waypoints on the device. Performing this reset with a PN-30/PN-40 with the 2.9 firmware or a PN-60 or PN-60w will delete the active track and all routes on the device. Back up any of this data you are interested in saving! Turn the Earthmate PN-Series GPS off. Hold down the PAGE, MENU and Power buttons. Once you see the dark blue Warning screen, release the Power, PAGE and MENU buttons. Press ENTER. Scroll to Media and press ENTER. Scroll to Internal 1(user data) and press ENTER. Scroll to Format and press ENTER. Scroll to Yes and press ENTER. Note: If using a PN-60 or PN-60w, press ENTER when 'Operation Successfully Completed' appears. Press the QUIT button twice. Scroll to Reboot and press ENTER. - See more at: https://support.delorme.com/kb/articles/118-troubleshooting-an-earthmate-pn-series-gps#user Quote Link to comment
