Garmin Dakota 20 server problem

Recommended Posts

I have just subscribed to Birdseye and downloaded a small sat image area to BaseCamp.

When I try to send this to my registered Dakota I have a ‘select device’ tab which confirms the serial number of my Dakota. This box says ‘send date to device’ and I click ok.

I then have a brief dialog box which says ‘Birdseye Imagery Device Activation – Please wait while we contact Garmin servers to verify device activation’

This is followed by a message ‘Error contacting Garmin servers would you like to try again’ This message is continually repeated on pressing ok. I have not had an issue previously before upgrading to Birdseye.

I have checked firewalls, net guard, removed all gpx files as suggested by Garmin in case any were corrupted - which I have now lost! I have checked my internet connection and for some reason my time settings as suggested by Garmin and my Proxy/LAN settings.

Please can anyone help

Hi sussamb.

Yes I have tried using both the 'send data to device' icon tab and by copying files in the library panel on the left hand side of the BaseCamp page. In both instances the computer wants to contact the server I assume to verify the device has a licence to receive the data. In your instance how does BaseCamp know the device is yours and you are not downloading the information for someone else on their device?

Its really annoying.....

Thanks - so the device does need to be verified as the 'licensed' device before the map will work. Therefore it needs to contact maybe.....

Anyway that's not the issue at the moment. My problem is that I have the map on Birdseye but cannot get the information to my Dakota :(
