+JohnCNA
You have a couple options for this. Both options require connecting your GPS to your computer. 1. Use your computer to browse to the GPS Drive/Garmin/GPX folder and delete the GPX files that are there. 2. Use BaseCamp on your computer to delete individual caches, waypoints and tracks from your GPS. Quote Link to comment
+geodarts
I have lots of caches loaded into my machine. But how do I get rid of them? Not sure what is the best method to get them there either really ? While there are other options than those listed above (I manage caches on my gpsr with my iphone/iPad or android and it could be done through the sd card alone if caches were loaded there), the basic point is a good one. You cannot delete cache information through the unit. The files containing the cache details in the garmin/gpx folder of the unit or sd card have to be removed or modified externally. Because you have to add caches to the etrex by transferring files to the unit, and delete them by removing the file, it follows that the best method of getting caches there is with a gpx file that contains information for a number of caches. This can be done through a pocket query and Groundspeak provides a guide to help people create queries that contain information for up to 1000 caches at a time. As an alternative there are several geocaching programs and apps that allow you to do live searches and create gpx files to transfer the caches to the etrex. The resulting gpx files can be transferred to the etrex directly (unzip and copy to the garmin/gpx folder) or by using one of the managers. I have never used basecamp to do this, but there are several caching/gps apps to choose from depending on the platform that is used. Edited June 27, 2015 by geodarts Quote Link to comment
