Any Free State Project Geocachers Out There?

Just wondering if there are any geocachers out there who are also members of the The Free State Project. The Free State Project is a plan in which 20,000 or more liberty-oriented people will move to New Hampshire, where they may work within the political system to reduce the size and scope of government. Since the porcupine is the chosen logo and mascot of the FSP, fellow porcupine and geocacher Darkshade and I will be releasing a series of porcupine travel bugs, each named after a prominent town in New Hampshire. Their mission will be to spread the good news about the FSP and eventually return to NH. The first one, Freedom - The Free State Project Travel Bug #1, will be released in Missouri in a day or two. We would like them to start their journeys in different corners of the US and thought it would be fun for fellow geocaching porcupines (if there are any...) to have the honor of placing them in caches near their homes.

Check out the new photos of the Free State Project Travel Bugs on the Free State Project's main page!

Are there any other geocaching members of the Free State Project out there who would like to help place these cute little guys?

Please keep the political links out of the posts. This is geocaching and not a political forum. Next will be a topic asking who is a Democrat, who is a Republican, who is an Independant, etc.

Since the actual geocaching part of this topic is more Travel Bug related I will move it to the appropriate forum.

There are plenty of forums out there to discuss politics.

not to be rude, but nobody has said a word about a political argument. nothing even close to a political argument has taken place here. we're a group of people with similar interests planning travel bugs related to those interests.. your anticipation of an argument that may or may not happen really has no basis at this point and will not until someone who can't keep their comments to themselves hijacks the thread to turn it into something other than it's intended purpose; a political discussion rather than a travel bug planning discussion. at that point your obligation as a moderator to thwart the argument will be well respected, even expected. however, right now nobody other than yourself has even implied "a topic asking who is a Democrat, who is a Republican, who is an Independant, etc." so please hold off unless that happens..

don't get me wrong; i'm all for proactivity. but i feel that this is a little excessive.

back on topic, i find it remarkable that there are at least 3 FSP members that frequent these message boards enough to see the post. i am glad that this thread was started or i wouldn't have had any idea. and i'm happy to help spread the travel bugs. and the creative symbolism of dropping them in places around the country with the intent of returning to the free state - how cool. how fun! thanks!

Considering the political undertones involved, I think the preemptive warning to stay on topic was warranted, and better then waiting until the thread gets to the point where it needs to be closed. The actual topic title (Any Free State Project Geocachers Out There?) is purely political, and a reply to the question posted in the topic has nothing to do with geocaching.

Of course, your post complaining about mtn-man's post did more to derail the topic then anything he posted, and my reply takes it even further off course. This thread is probably doomed.

I stand by that it was excessive proactivity, disagree that the original post had nothing to do with geocaching, responded to the person who derailed the topic, and quicly brought it back on topic after I finished my post. And I even addressed that very point by saying that a moderator had derailed the post, not I.

no response is necessary, I doubt you could change my opinion. This is silly. we're arguing about arguing.

A HUGE thanks to fellow geocaching Free State Project members PizzaPizza, trevden, and tjtryon, who have stepped up to the plate and offered to place a few FSP Porcupine Travel Bugs in caches from Indiana to California! It will be fun to track these porcupines and see who they encounter as they spread the word about the Free State Project in their journey back to NH!

And I am also surprised and very excited to discover fellow FSP members who are also geocachers! This was supposed to be just a fun little project involving some very cute travel bugs. Sorry if politics got in the way.

If anyone else is interested in placing a FSP Porcupine Travel Bug, let me know!

I don't really care about this. But I feel this is a political thing and have yet to make a smart but remark in the forums so I will start now. A quote from the Blues Brothers movie. Illinois Nazi's, I hate Illinois Nazis
