Instant Notification issue

After a 3 year lull I am finally getting back to GCing but I now have a new phone # so tried to edit the Instant Notification info but cannot edit or delete my old number. I'm not exactly new at this and followed the detailed instructions exactly for editing but I am unable to do it.

I even tried deleting all my old info thinking I can just start anew but even that didn't work. The email address and phone number is on a dropdown menu so I can only select one. I tried selecting the phone then key backtracking but that didn't work either. Please help me understand what, if anything, I am doing wrong.

I need to replace my old phone # with my new one. Thank you in advance.

I don't believe the site sends instant notifications by direct text; my understanding is that it sends them to your phone by email-to-SMS. Try going to edit your profile, choose email preferences, add the email-to-SMS address for your new # and delete the old one.

You first have to add your new phone number as an email address attached to your account (and verify it), and then you'll be able to select it on the Instant Notifications page.
