+Pacar
Hello all! I've posted this in the UK forum with little success so trying to increase the audience.... I've been caching for a few years now quite successfully using a Garmin 60CSX, I really like the look and robustness of the device which I now want to upgrade but I want to go paperless, or at least not have to create a text file that I can read on my iphone.... I've settled on the Garmin 62SC, I know the camera isn't great but travelling extensively, I like the idea of being able to grab some quick geotagged snaps without having to use a seperate camera or my phone. The only reason I haven't bought one so far are the problems that have been mentioned previously to do with text rubbing off buttons, buttons degrading quickly due to low quality rubber being used and problems with software. I've read that these issues "MAY" now have been resolved since the first units became available, but I would like a confirmed YES or NO to have these problems now been ironed out. Thanks for your help, Pacar Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
While I am not 100% sure on this, I think (have heard) the 62 line is discontinued. There are PLENTY of new, never-before sold units out there yet for sale. Checking further, the Garmin website, says so (at the top of this page): https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-the-trail/discontinued/gpsmap-62st/prod63802.html Now, the 64 series is essentially the "all new updated" 60 series line. I have heard that folks using a 64 series are far happier than they were with a 62. Just something to consider, as I have not used either unit, it's just what I have seen/heard in these forums. +Pacar
Thank you Gitchee-Gummee, I've done a lot of reading and have moved away from the 62 series and have just purchased a Garmin Oregon 650. The camera is upgraded, paperless GeoCaching is covered and it's a far more modern looking touch screen system with GLONASS. Thank you for taking the trouble to reply to me, I'll see if I can find my way to writing a review after it's had a few uses Regards, Pacar Quote Link to comment
