+Manville Possum
After all the hype about Pokemon and some thoughts on how it's a competing game,.... seems that Pikachu Sightings has been around for quite some time on Waymarking. I learn something new here all the time. Quote Link to comment
+T0SHEA
Yes, I learned something new too. Had no idea what is being submitted in the category Pikachu Sightings. Gee, now I have to go to Wal-Mart, find one and submit to the category. Wonder if it will still be there a week after it is approved. Oh well, guess that does not matter, that is unless it is a 2000 pound cast iron cook stove located in a free museum. Edited January 15, 2017 by BK-Hunters Quote Link to comment

Looks like my idea for Pokemon Go Gyms was not such a crazy idea after all, but the real question is do we really need a category to Waymark this kind of stuff? On a side note, I did join their group. Maybe I can ask to be made officer. Seems the Founder/Leader does all the reviewing, and the category has two active officers. Maybe they could use another member that shares their interest. Quote Link to comment

Oh, do you mean items that are for sale such as: tee shirts, toys, comics and games found in a Target, Wal-Mart, shopping mall, or bolts of fabric in fabric stores, just to name a few. Wow, talk about a permanence issue and movable items! Here today - gone tomorrow. Edited January 15, 2017 by BK-Hunters Quote Link to comment
+elyob
Pikachu Sightings is an old category, founded by a charter member who continues to log in. The first waymark is WMC25. For me it, it was an icon on the grid. Edited January 15, 2017 by elyob Quote Link to comment

For me it, it was an icon on the grid. Yes, it is an old one. I was reading the comments before the thread I started on Pokemon GO Gym was locked, and how Pokemon is a competing game and my idea would not be allowed. The category appears to have been quite dormant until last summer, maybe even forgotten about. I never played Waymarking as a game, it was more about history for me, but I may have to log a Pikachu sighting. Quote Link to comment
+Benchmark Blasterz
We saw a Pikachu backpack at H Mart tonight, and 5 months ago in Abilene TX my daughters and I ran into a REAL pickachu while chasing a Pokémon in Pokémon Go. I waymarked that encounter becuase it was so much more than just sighting - it was conversation, interaction and photo op -- very fun http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMTG4R_Hashi_Japanese_Restaurant_and_Teppan_Grill_Abilene_TX Edited January 16, 2017 by Benchmark Blasterz Quote Link to comment

Awesome! Yours sure does look nice though. I'm glad I ran across that old category. Quote Link to comment
+T0SHEA
Manville Possum, We thank you for bringing this category to our attention. We have looked at this category a few years past, however, just forgot about it. This is an easy one to do. Do you have other hidden gems? That is if they are reasonable to do. We have not found a "Yellow Arrow" and probably never will. Quote Link to comment
+elyob
We have not found a "Yellow Arrow" and probably never will. If you're ever in TO, the one at the CN Tower is healthy. Even so, I needed four trips to see it. Quote Link to comment
+T0SHEA
Yellowarrow.net is defunct. "Although there are some surviving yellow arrows, many no longer survive. IF you can document exactly where the yellow arrow was and fulfill the rest of the requirements, these legacy waymarks will be accepted." this was copied from the category description. I recall reading this some time back and thought the yellow arrow had to be posted on flickr. Yellow Arrow URL [required]: Arrow Code [required]: Please note the code written on the arrow. I did look at a few of the newest approved waymarks and they all link to flickr. So, if I am understanding correctly: Not on flickr Yellow Arrow, NO waymark. There are currently 67 approved. It started on 6/15/2006. The last two were approved in mid 2014. As stated, we will probably never find one. Quote Link to comment
+T0SHEA
Manville Possum, why not start a new thread focusing on reviving forgotten categories. Might be interesting. It worked for Pikachu Sightings. Quote Link to comment
+Benchmark Blasterz
The yellow arrow on the back of the street sign in downtown Fort Worth TX is still there as of Nov 2016. Don't know about the one in Tulsa OK. The one in Irving TX is gone. This was an early icon for us - we figured it would be one and done. Quote Link to comment

It worked for Pikachu Sightings. I don't think I know enough about the subject. Pokemon is one of my interests, and I just came across it while viewing the newest WM's. It reminded me of the other thread that I started about Pokemon GO Gym locations as a Waymarking category. After having that horse shot out from under me, I forgot about it until I saw a similar idea was already a category. Quote Link to comment

True, I use Waymarking as a learning tool. I had thought about a thread for best Drive-By WM of the day, and pick out our favorite DBWM posted that day. I have been seeing some nice ones lately. I believe I have some pictures taken during the Pokemon craze that may fit the category. Crazy, but the nearest one of those to me is in Gatlinburg, TN, that is almost a two hour drive from here. Did find this: Hershey’s Kissmobile Cruiser on Display at the AACA Museum - On long-term loan from The Hershey Company and on Display Most Days AACA Museum Looks like of the approximately 100 cities they visited 96 missed opportunities to waymark them. Shot towers, not too many of them around here. I can only think of one within 100 miles. Sounds like a good grid to add for me. Check this one out. +Manville Possum
Not my idea of a shot tower, but maybe it was. I listed a tower as a Civil War site once and it was accepted, now it turns out it was part of a mansion built in the 1880's. It's how you pass things off sometimes. Quote Link to comment

I'm not aware of one category just for wild game restaurants, but lots of restaurants in Texas serve wild game - cmon down! No need to worry about 6 more weeks of winter, it's gonna be in the 70s this week. Quote Link to comment
+T0SHEA
We learned something new just over a year ago... Since 2011 until 2016 we looked everywhere, road signs, businesses, private homes everywhere we might find that elusive 666 sighting. We were in Salmon Arm, British Columbia and planned to waymark the post office. As our usual modus operandi I entered the post office to take a quick shot of the PO boxes. There were a lot of them and it finally dawned on me to look for a box with 666. Sure enough there was one and took pictures wondering if it would be accepted: 666 Salmon Arm Post Office Box If you are having the same difficulty we experienced this suggestion may help find that elusive 666 Sightings Edited May 7, 2017 by BK-Hunters Quote Link to comment
