+pittt
I have had a Montana 600 with 1:50000 UK maps for a couple of years now, and I love it. I use it for geocaching and while out walking. Of its many lovely features, I think I like the concept of moving time and moving average speed most. Before starting 102 mile, 8 day walk, I have a couple of questions that someone may be able to helped with: 1. Is there a way to pause the track recording? If I stop for lunch and go into a building, it will hunt for a location, but will jump around a lot because of the poor GPS reception. Is there a way to tell it I am stopped, but will be restarting later and I wanted to continue the same track? Does switching it off do this? I am not sure. 2. Is there a way to lock the screen while walking? If I put it in a pocket, all sorts of things happen on the screen, usually adding waypoints and things like that as my coat brushes against the screen. Assuming there isn't a simple answer to the second one, is there a belt or arm holster that anyone recommends for the device? I want/need to be able to have both hands free to use walking poles and I don't want it dangling around my neck if I can avoiding. Thanks, T Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
I have the 650 and have never seen a way to pause it. 1. You could save the track each time and stitch them together when you get home or reverse. Edit the pauses out when you get home A check of page 5 of you manual would tell you to press the power button and then the lock icon. To unlock do the reverse. Quote Link to comment

I also have a Montana and use a harness that is made for hunters to carry binoculars. Hands free, handy when I want to look at it, and the weight is on my shoulders not my neck. Quote Link to comment
