Cacheret
This time, I have found that the tiny metal piece that is supposed to hold my sim card in place won't stay put, so the device can't read the maps that I put on the card and I can't transfer maps from the computer because Basecamp says that I have no storage in the unit itself (not what I thought was the case, but I am a Luddite). Anyway, does anyone know how to fix this or where I might go to avoid having to send it in to Garmin? I am on a brief vacation and was hoping to get in some geocaching and also locate restaurants with the same lovely device. I do love my GyPSy, but Garmin is slow and frustrating, and I have gotten far more help from you guys. Thanks again, Cacheret Quote Link to comment
N0BWU
I'd try a small piece of thin foam or tissue paper between the memory card and the batteries. That should help it make contact. Quote Link to comment
Red90
If you go on eBay or search Google, you can buy the required replacement parts to fix it yourself. If fixing it yourself is not an option, there are companies that will do it for you or you can get Garmin to do it for a large fee. The answers are a quick search away. http://www.ebay.com/itm/molex-microSD-card-holder-GARMIN-60Cx-60CSx-62s-Oregon-repair-socket-tray-cover-/261276823718?pt=GPS_Holders_Mounts&hash=item3cd54ff0a6 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-micro-SD-card-holder-for-GARMIN-GPSMAP-60Cx-60CSx-parts-DIY-repair-/331099278405?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d170e0c45 Quote Link to comment
Cacheret
Thanks! This is an excellent suggestion, which I will implement forthwith. I'd try a small piece of thin foam or tissue paper between the memory card and the batteries. That should help it make contact. Quote Link to comment
Cacheret
Thanks, Red90. First, I'm going to try putting thin foam in there, but, if not, I'll want to try one of the companies you mention. I actually did try googling, but I don't think I knew the right search terms. I'm assuming that, if I google repair Garmin [my location], I can find such a company. I do appreciate your help.
