chumz
I have a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx which has served me very well. But now the adhesive that attached the black rubber 'top' (covers the entire top of the unit, including enclosing the antenna, on-off switch, etc.) has failed. I use the unit in really adverse conditions (dust, rain, etc.) so need to get it repaired/sealed. Garmin will only reply that it is no longer under warranty so they won't even talk about repairing it. Is this unusual? Is it a user repair? Thanks. Quote Link to comment
MtnHermit
Since the 60 is quite old you're getting monies worth. Some things you might try: Use Shoe-goo, I've fixed sneakers and it lasts for years Epoxy, many flavors, I fixed a ripping seam in a pair of hiking boots that lasted a year. Many adhesives on the market, use what you have or invest $5. My understanding is that Garmin does NOT repair, rather replace model for model at a fixed price, usually $100+. Quote Link to comment

+cerberus1
When my blue legend had issues, and noticed a tape/film kinda stuff inside, I used 3m car trim tape, and it's still secure (and another spare). Was a real pain-in-the-can to get everything adjusted too... I remember reading somewhere that 3m made a permanent adhesive, tape-like stuff, called glue on/in a roll. Both our 60cxs are still kicking, though I wore the paint on buttons off long ago (ate a couple screen protectors too). - Note to self... DEET and rubber/plastics not good. Quote Link to comment
+GrateBear
Try RTV silicon seal. I used it for my old Legend CX a couple of years ago (the rubber around the whole unit came off) and it's held up well. p.s.--idea came from ecanderson. Edited July 10, 2016 by GrateBear Quote Link to comment
+ecanderson
RTV is great. That's certainly where I would head. Garmin used to send out (for free) fresh bands (with the same old adhesive, though) for owners who had this issue. Quote Link to comment
+Mineral2
That might be Garmin's way of saying they no longer have parts in stock for that model, and that the cost of repair is greater than the unit is worth. Quote Link to comment
the3gmen
Just a thought. You might be able to use this if you can't repair it the way you want. https://www.amazon.com/Garmin-60csx-GizzMoVest-LLC-Lanyard-Clip/dp/B00713QYVI Quote Link to comment
