I just recently purchased a Magellan Triton 2000. How do I get GPS of my area to show on this device? I cannot even figure out how to add geocache locations to device. Does anyone know anything about this device that can point me in right direction?

I'm assuming you are aware that the Triton hasn't been supported by Magellan in quite a few years. Okay, moving on from that.

The Triton uses VantagePoint software from Magellan which is free and is the primary way to communicate with the device. I am not sure if other software like GSAK can communicate or not with Tritons. But to load geocaches to the Triton, load them on Vantage Point then transfer to the Triton. I think the Triton has a hard limit on geocaches, 500 comes to mind. The software is buggy and you are running Windows 8 or 10, you might have to run it in legacy mode and ADMIN mode.

This site is your best bet to get maps. It does require a subscription of $12 a year.

The Triton will (or used) to accept maps either from Magellan's Mapsend or Nat Geo Topo.

I do not know of a way to free maps into the Triton easily.

I got the Triton 2000 as well, I also got all the US maps from Maps4me.net, and loaded the map for my area onto my Triton unit.

In vantagepoint on my computer the maps are perfect, I can zoom in and see all the hiking trails in the region but on the unit itself it does not show any of these trails.

Am I doing something wrong? I got the unit so I could use on hiking trails in southern california, primarily Angeles Crest Forest, Cleveland National Forest, San Bernardino National Forest, & Anza Borrego State Park, etc. Like I said, everything shows up on the map in Vantagepoint but nothing shows up on the unit when I open the same map.

Thank you very much for your help.
