chirp cache

Recommended Posts

today a chirp cache has gone live near me but I have not had any experience with chirps, is there an android app that can "hear" a chirp? I use a galaxy mini as my main GPS, but I do have a Magellan explorist gc too.

Is it an actual Chirp? Chirp is a brand from Garmin, so unless someone has hacked something I don't know about you need a Garmin to do it. There are other similar items- generally called beacons or something similar. Depending on the brand and such, is depending on if you can find it. Although the Explorist GC does not support any of them, you may be able to do something with your tablet. So the question is; Is it an actual Chirp, or is it a different brand of beacon? Or you can just not find it. Nothing says you have to find every single cache.

I haven't seen an app for the Android, but there is an App on the iPhone called GeoBecon that will "hear" chirps.

You do need to have another ANT+ device paired with your phone, but I've heard about people having success with this app.
