+Scooby-Doo Crew
After really enjoying the CCC thread I am really interested in creating a cache that is Halloween themed.I'd like to start planning now for October. Does anyone have or know of Halloween themed caches they can post pics and details of? I'm trying to get some ideas. Quote Link to comment

[] I have a cache named Happy Halloween/Happy Birthday to ME, as my birthday is just after Halloween. I placed it on the site of the former Amurol candy factory. You can find out more by checking out the cache page. To me, location is one of the most important things in placing a cache. I like the places to be unusual, pretty, and/or have a story behind them. My partner, Little Truffle-Pig, has a Halloween-themed cache in the Pittsburgh area. She attached a scary-looking goblin figure to the lid of the cache that pops out when you open it, and wrote a fun poem for the cache description. She calls it Samhain Surprise. --Larry Quote Link to comment

+TreasureFerret
We just went to a park yesterday where 8 caches had been placed in 2008 as part of a Halloween geocaching event. The caches are all normal lock and lock containers but they almost all have a spooky guardian (examples: toy scorpion, witch figurine, deer skull), halloween themed items (still), and some had a little story on the cache page (example: one of the cache locations is supposedly haunted). Halloween is our favorite holiday so we enjoyed these caches Can't wait to see what you come up with! Quote Link to comment

Do not neglect checking the logs for that cache though. It was a hair raising adventure for the cache owner, too. Quote Link to comment
+geodarts
I have found caches placed by fake tombstones in the middle of nowhere. There was a series involving small plastic Halloween pumpkins, but those did not hold up very well. And the creepiest cache I ever found was not specifically placed for Halloween, but it involved an overgrown, rundown former cabin that had a lot of animal skulls lined in it. I specifically made a note not to visit that one on Halloween. A popular local Halloween cache involves going to a cemetery, collecting coordinates, and then finding the final (a bucket of a red dye mixture filled with slimy Halloween eyes, one of which contains a log book). The latter has made a number of people's favorite list -- if it was not placed in an environmentally sensitive area against park rules, it would have made mine. I would think that the holiday would be particularly good for a night cache with something slimy at the end. Edited April 27, 2011 by mulvaney Quote Link to comment

+uxorious
GCJ7VH Sometimes the best Halloween caches were not put out as a Halloween cache. This one has been a favorite for a Halloween night cache for a while now. Quote Link to comment
+Kryten
I once had a cache called "Alas poor Yorik". He lived under a flat stone slab in the centre of a hollow tree stump and was a plastic skull. Other than the cache name there were a few other clues on the web page as to the nature of the cache including an invitation to "dig up an old friend" Cachers were however advised not let young children seek Yorik alone. My favourite log was one that said something like "After recovering the shock of meeting Yorik he joined us for a picnic but didn't eat much". Strangely although not having any legs of his own he still somehow learned to walk. Quote Link to comment
+The Blorenges
Not just for Hallowe'en but we did release it for that date a couple of years ago: "The dead and the undead." It's very close to this rather lovely, spooky ruined church and overlooks the ruins of Tintern Abbey in the Wye Valley and anyone who doesn't want a spoiler pic of the container, please don't click: Here. +kleetus
I camouflaged a fake pumpkin and hid it near a cemetery. In my description I called it a redneck pumpkin. I had some fake spiders, bugs, and a fake dead rat by the cache. Quote Link to comment
