Garmin 64s only downloading as waypoints - help!

Has anyone out there successfully downloaded geocaches to a Garmin 64s using Basecamp Legacy? We bought the 64s because our old 60S didnt provide logs and hints. But so far all my queries off geocaching.com only download the GC name, no logs or anything, and only as waypoints. I spent hours talking to Garmin and they finally said they dont really support Basecamp Legacy (apparently our MAC is too old for the current basecamp version) and said they couldn't help me.

I've trid going directly from geocaching.com, like we did with the 60S, but nothing happens. I've tried importing the files to basecamp and then sending to GPS and it appeared as I described - in waypoints and incomplete. I tried moving the GPX files into the files on Garmin icon, and it appeared the same way. Argh!

Anyone else experience this?

If you have data in the unit... loaded as .LOC files, you must get rid of those first!

Loading .GPX files alone will not correct the issue.

If there are current .LOC files standing in the unit, any subsequent loaded .GPX files will revert to .LOC status.

Such questions come to these forums on a regular basis.

1] Access the folder holding geocaching (.LOC) files.

2] Delete any and all .LOC files -- NOTHING ELSE!

3] You mention MAC -- if you are using a MAC, empty the trash prior to disconnecting the unit from the computer... otherwise, the deleted files will not delete.

4] Load .GPX files as normal... either through a program or by direct drag 'n drop (as suggested by Red90)... it shouldn't matter.

You should then get all of the descriptions, hints, logs, etc.

Make a pocket query.

Unzip the GPX file. Copy the file to the GPS when connected to the computer and put it in the Garmin/GPX/ directory.

Ok - I'm calling this a Christmas Miracle. I tried this yesterday, with Garmin on the phone, and I swear it didn't work. Today I figure I'll try it again, and it worked great. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond - I would not have tried again if you hadn't. :)

Also, I did empty the trash with each try, but thank you all for responding so quickly. I am going to clear it all off and try again just to make sure I really got it down. So happy!!!!

Hmmm - I wonder if I did in fact empty the trash with each try...... I wonder if I used basecamp and it downloaded it badly and then I didn't delete it all off properly before doing the correct way to do it. I will know now that if I see it has not been changed, EMPTY the TRASH!

Hey there,. i was having the same / similar problem having recently upgraded to a 64s from the 62s.. finding i could figure out how to load the caches to the 64s but could not see them on screen no matter what i did... thank fully i have been using GSAK for a while.. and was able to figure out to do a dual load of all the caches using GSAK.. ( first as waypoints, so i could see their locations on the map and navigate to them, and then second as caches.. so i could then switch over and navigate to them in the vicinity..) today i got the latest patch for GSAK and it now supports the 64s.. problem solved.. although GSAK is now loading them as a GGZ file in the GGZ dir...highly recommend getting GSAK... the most basic reason.. you can wander in feeling like a spot of caching to day .. whip up a map radius around where you think you want to go .. and hey presto they are loaded to your device... come home with 50 found caches... all you do is type the logs.. and it does all the publishing and linking of TB's.... while you go get a cold one... yeah
