+VIBlackfish
Anyone having issue's putting caches onto micro sdcards? I just got a Oregon 650 loaded my maps onto micro and a gpx file created from gsak. The maps show up on the Oregon but no caches. Not working in my old 550 either not sure what I am doing wrong. Made a gpx folder put file in folder and out of folder nothing. Any suggestions? Quote Link to comment
+Chrysalides
It needs to be in <DEVICE:>\GARMIN\GPX Caches over 100 miles away will not show up, unless you zoom into their location on the map. Quote Link to comment

I am not so sure that is true anymore. At least it isn't on my Montana. I tested it by putting caches from Paris on it while at home in California and they came right up after clicking find a cache. Download a GPX file from a cache page (nearby as mentioned), place it into "[OR Drive:]/GARMIN/GPX". If it's an SD Card, find its drive letter, separate from the GPSr's directory tree, and create the folder "[Drive:]/GARMIN/GPX". Has GSAK been OK previously? I'm guessing if set up and functioning, it will do all the fancy stuff for you, behind the scenes. If so, it's gotta be that 100 mile thing. Maybe. It's also super easy to filter out all Geocaches. Maybe it came set by the factory like that. See if your Geocache filters are set the way you like: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/508843/Garmin-Oregon-600.html?page=10#manual Edited December 13, 2014 by kunarion Quote Link to comment

I downloaded a cache file 2200 miles away to test it just now. It doesn't show up on a search. If I scroll the map to the icon, all the details are there. This is on an Oregon 650T with software verson 4.30, identified by Garmin Webupdater as the most recent version. If there's a setting to override the distance filter, I haven't found it yet. One work-around, is to select "Geocaching" from the menu, then use the Search Near function. That link refers to "Finding A Waypoint", but the function works in a similar way on the Geocaching screen. You can scroll to a map point, and search near that. The OP should load the most recent firmware. Edited December 13, 2014 by kunarion Quote Link to comment
+VIBlackfish
Working now DL Gpx with the card in the 650 and it works now. Before I was DLing file on to card then installing card into GPS wouldn't think that should make a difference but in this case it seemed to. All is well thanks for the help. Cache needs to be within 100 miles before it shows up in the menu but it is there on the map if you scroll to it. That is annoying when your planning a trip but just a small pain. Happy caching & thanks again Quote Link to comment
