Send to GPS

With browser developers increasingly dropping support for NPAPI plugins - the same platform used for all of the communicator plugins for all of the GPS brands - perhaps it's time to remove the "Send to GPS" function completely from the website. In the long run, this might save users a great deal of confusion and frustration.

In return, you could also do away with .loc files which are also not terribly compatible with modern GPS receivers and instead allow basic members to download individual and bulk (search results) .GPX files that simply don't contain the full description. As it is, I believe the "Send to GPS" feature creates a gpx file of this nature for basic members.

Why remove it as long as it works? Many browsers still support the plug-in. Mozilla even announced last week it will support NPAPI until the end of 2016.

Don't get me wrong, as a GSAK user I never use this feature, but the number of 'troubles' mentioned in this and other forums are not realistic. The people who use the plug-in without trouble won't go to forums to complain.

It works for me, and I do use it occasionally, mainly to quickly load new caches that are not in a PQ, and that I want to look for today.

There are several reasons to keep .loc files, and many have to do with GSAK. I use it to bulk download a set of caches then use the refresh feature in GSAK to get the extra data. Since multiple .gpx files cannot be handled this way, using .loc files saves time.
