Tahosa and Sons
Just curious as to when did Charter Memberships started. I have been told that they started in the very beginning. And I would just like to clarify the subject. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
I think it was March '02. Quote Link to comment
Mr.Yuck
I think it was March '02. Definitely started in '02. I have seen a few, but not many, '03 joining charter members. But early in that year, and don't look at me, I went about 6 months, and didn't pull the trigger until February 2004. I'm sure Moun10Bike has this information, but who knows if he'll post on a weekend. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
I remember reading it somewhere as March '02 to March '03. 'Course like premium, it goes to your start date, so that may be why someone believes it started "from the beginning". Quote Link to comment
+Great Scott!
My first Premium membership payment was on 11/9/2002. Quote Link to comment
+Sagefox
I have been told that they started in the very beginning. Not the very beginning. More like about a year and a half into the game I'd say. I recall that we joined immediately when the announcement came out. March of 2002 sounds about right. Quote Link to comment
+Uncle Alaska
I remember donating to the cause before premium was offered...can't remember exact date when I started premium payments, early 2002 sounds about right. Quote Link to comment
+hydnsek
My first Premium membership payment was on 11/9/2002. I became a Charter Member on 01/05/2003. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
Charter memberships officially launched on March 7, 2002 (although there was a "sneak preview" leak by Jeremy in the Monday ClayJar chat a few days earlier). Premium Member Only caches and Custom Forum Titles were the initial benefits, plus a guarantee that the $30/year cost would be locked in for Charter Members who continued to auto-renew each year. Pocket queries followed later in the year (named in part for the MobiPocket format in which they were originally offered). The Charter membership was good for all Groundspeak websites, a fact lost on members at the time. But Jeremy had already conceived Waymarking in his mind as the solution for locationless and virtual caches. Quote Link to comment
