+mdsn9699
So after caching for a while with my iPhone, I decided to finally buy a GPSr, and got the 62S. There's definitely a learning curve to figuring out how to work this thing, but this issue really has me stumped. So, I generated a GPX file using a pocket query, which I then saved to my device. I can pull up all those caches on the device now and navigate to them, but here's the weird thing: when I try to navigate to any other waypoint - ones I've created, or even inputting new coordinates - it instead directs me to whatever happens to be the nearest geocache saved on my device. I didn't have issues navigating to other waypoints until I added this GPX file. Am I saving the file in the wrong place on the device? I saved it in the Garmin>GPX folder in the internal memory, and also tried it on the microSD. Honestly I couldn't find very clear guidance about how to actually load the gpx file onto the device. Anyone have ideas? Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+Mineral2
I bet you're following the small compass on the geocaching dashboard. When you navigate to a waypoint, be it geocache or other, there's a line on the map that connects your location to your destination. That's what you "follow." On the compass page, the compass will indicate the heading of your destination. However, the geocaching dashboard will always point to either the nearest geocache, or the active geocache. When you're not geocaching, you can use another profile and set it up not to use the geocaching dashboard. Quote Link to comment
+mdsn9699
Thank you! I think I've got it figured out. Changing the dashboard is what did the trick. Seems that when in the geocaching dashboard it will only show the nearest geocache in compass view, not another entered waypoint, even when the profile is set to something else... Definitely quirky for me, but I'm slowly figuring it all out. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Quote Link to comment

You can have your Geocaching profile display the Geocaching dashboard, and other profiles that display other routing tools at the top of the map.
