GPSmap62

On our recent vacation to Canada I took only my map62. I'm much more comfortable with my old map60.

Paperless caching is great but now I can't extract the info. When I found a cache I clicked "found", in recent finds I can see found caches.

With my old map60 I could upload all the info into Garmin MapSource and have a quick easy list of found caches.

Doesn't work with a map62.

I've run updates for MapSource and my GPS.

I can open the many GPX files in my map62 but I can't find any "found" caches.

Hi Gary! On your 62 you can view your Found caches by going to Find/Geocaches/Menu button/Show Found, as long as you have not cleaned out the old Canada caches. As taybee said your unit creates the "geocache_visits.txt" file in the Garmin folder and can be found when connected to the PC. This is a great feature that keeps a record of finds with dates and times.

You can upload this file directly to GC.com to log each cache under Your Profile/Field Notes. Look here: Upload Your Field Notes File. You will have to install the free Garmin Communicator Plugin.

Wow. So much misinformation in this thread.

You are look for a file call geocache_visits.txt its in the Garmin folder

If you are using GSak have a look at the marco call FieldNotesImportandLog.gsk

That macro is obsolete if you use GSAK 8.0 or greater. Instead use Geocaching.com Access>>Publish Logs...

You do not need the Garmin plugin to open this file. When you plug in your 62 to the computer, it will show up as a drive letter. Just navigate to that drive and find the field notes file inside the Garmin folder.
