Spoiler photo's

Does anybody know how to remove spoiler photos from my cache website??

Thanks for the help.

As owner, you can edit any log on your cache listings... deleting only the picture while keeping the text, by instance.

Nevertheless, you should use this with caution. First try to ask the geocacher to remove the spoiler picture himself.

I'd remove it, then (if they're contactable through their profile - if they're unverified, you're out of luck) write a nice note to them saying "thanks for the photo, but I've removed it because it gives too much away."

If they're unverified, just remove it and have done with it. ;)

A request for the finder to fix his spoiler rather than the CO hopefully teaches him not to post spoilers any more. If the CO does it without telling him he doesn't see it. If the CO makes him do it and assuming he didn't know better, the finder gets the lesson driven home better than just being told not to do that. Kind of like a kid made to clean up his messes learns more about not making messes than the kid who is told not to do that by parents who clean up the messes the kids make.

True, but how long do you wait for them to clean up their mess, and how many cachers will look at the spoiler picture in the meantime? It depends on your tolerance for having people find your cache via a spoiler photo. :)

Depends on the difficulty of the cache (If it's an intro app user, obviously not too high a rating) but if others have DNF'd the cache and put it on their watchlist, they get every log to the cache... Including the spoiler pic.

If a new cacher is posting spoiler photos, they need to be told not to.

Much debate about ethics here. I believe the question was "how do I "?

How you delete an image on your cache - go to the cache, scroll to log, click "View Log" which appears below the log.

That puts the log and its images on a page - once there, you should see "edit image", above the first image. You may have to scroll through images there. Clicking edit puts the image on an editing page.

from the editing page, click the red Garbage can icon. This will delete the image.

I believe you'll be asked to type a reason for the image deletion into a box - that text gets sent to the owner of the image.

So, no need to send additional explanations to the owner of the spoiler, right?

You don't need to. When you try to delete a photo a box shows up asking you to leave a reason why you are deleting the photo. No need to send another message unless the cacher sends a message asking more info on why.

I deleted few photos when a new cacher was posting photos of a stuffed animal with the cache containers. I said it was a spoiler. She wrote back saying it wasn't near the cache location. But the cache container type was evil enough that it would give away too much of where you would be able to find it.

My suggestion would be to post photos on either archive caches you own or archived caches of someone elses. They will still show in the gallery but others would not know which cache it came from.

Take care what you type in that box because everyone who has that cache on their watch list will get an email with the details - and a link to the original image. Unless Groundspeak have fixed that bug - which I doubt.

I believe they did finally fix that, but I'd have to test to confirm.
