+vonjoekasey
Hi I just received a email about one of my coins. It was discovered on Ebay. I went to the site that the cacher left a link to and it was there. Does anyone know what I can do about this? I did send an email to the person selling it on Ebay today, stating that it was my coin and I was not giving them consent to sell it. I also asked them to contact me so that I could get my coin back. Has anyone on here had this problem? What did you do? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks VonJoeKasey Quote Link to comment

+Droo
Contact the seller that you are the registered owner and inform them you are reporting them to Ebay for the sale of stolen goods. Ebay will shut them down in a jiffy. Quote Link to comment

+vonjoekasey
I tried reporting it and on Ebay it says only police are able to report something as stolen. I did get a reply from the person selling the items and I am hoping that they will do the right thing. They said they bought the items from a garage sale. Fingers crossed this will all work out. +Manville Possum
I would think that if I reported my property was for sale on their site without my consent it would be against their policy. I hope it works out for you. Ebay has been a source for me in the past to buy and sell used trackables. Quote Link to comment

You should contact ebay again and make it clear they are selling stolen property. You can prove it belongs to you. Quote Link to comment
+mo pirate
Yes sounds like the same guy that I bought and activated coin from on ebay. He said he bought it at an estate auction. He was very rude saying he was not going to refund my money because he didn't do anything wrong. The only thing was it was not mine but a close caching friend of mine who had recently passed away from cancer. Quote Link to comment
+vonjoekasey
As of right now they have removed the sale and say they will send me my coin if I give them my address so that they can ship it back to me if I pay for the cost of shipping. I am not happy about this part but the coin has sentimental value to me. They are claiming they got all of the coins & TBS plus the GPS from a garage sale. Though they also said they use to be a cacher, at this point I would just like to get my coin back. The interesting thing is I got another email saying they lost out of having to end the sale because someone had bid on it. I didn't respond to it but I was thing "hmmm stolen coins!!!, loss of a bid!!!, which would you want to have to deal with?" Thanks to everyone who has responded to my situation and I will keep posting as things progress. VonJoeKasey Quote Link to comment

+vonjoekasey
Here is my update on this situation I got an email from the person and they said they mailed it to me. I have not yet received my coin. They have since re-listed their sale minus the coins that seem to have been purchased from the garage sale. I am hoping that they really do the right thing with this situation. Thanks for all the advice. VonJoeKasey Quote Link to comment
+vonjoekasey
Wow so sad.. Years ago I purchased a coin on Ebay and I put it in a cache as a FTF prize. Needless to say the person who was the First to finder contacted me and said the coin had been missing for 3 years and belonged to someone else. I felt so bad, they sent the coin on its way and I dug into my collection and offered them a coin of their choice. I hope I get lucky and this person and they will do the right thing and return it to me. I put this coin out for my brother who left this world many years ago so it has that sentimental value to me. But the other thing that bothers me is to see it being sold. +vonjoekasey
Today my coin was returned. It was from an Ebayer in New York. I do not know how they got the coin. I do know they were attempting to sell it. I do not know if they knew before putting it on Ebay that it was not their's to sell. I do know from their email to me that they had been a geocacher two years ago. I am glad that my coin is back with me and I do know that this one will not go out again unless it is a proxy. I also know that I will probably not be the last person to find their coin being sold on Ebay for any reason. Thanks to everyone that gave me advice on this issue. Quote Link to comment
+Krazy_Kajun
That's awesome it was returned to it's rightful owner. Whatever the case may be it's good to see still thoughtful people out there Quote Link to comment
