HELP!!

So this is what we got

GPS: Garmin 64ST

Computer: Mac

Using Safari as internet browser

Not premium members so can't use GPX file for download

We have done the plug in - it says it's good to go and running; You have Communicator Plugin.

Up to Date, Version 4.2.0.0

Devices Detected

GPSMAP 64st

however when we go to geocaching.com - select a desired geocache - and click send to GPS - we get plugin not detected and it can't detect our GPS...any thoughts.

Apple is really clamping down on security problems. You should try clicking the "LOC Waypoint File" (since non-paying users can't use the "GPX File" button), save that to "Garmin/GPX" on your GPSr and see if that's suitable for you.

Or if you enjoy working on computer settings, here's the most recent "fix" I could find on the subject of "Send To GPS" on Mac. I can't tell if it still works, but even if it does, it may stop working at some point:

1. Use the "Foxfire" browser

2. Download the Garmin Communicator from Mozilla from their Add-on store

In case you need more info about Mac vs. Send To GPS, here's a post from today:

we upgraded our membership yesterday in an attempt to at least get some caches downloaded

A paying member can stop using "Send To GPS". In the case of a very old GPSr that requires special software, there are utilities for that. But for most Garmin GPSrs, place a GPX file into the "Garmin/GPX" folder. That's where "Send To GPS" places files, but if you do it manually, you have more control (it's a good idea to clean up the folder from time to time). You can also download just one GPX file, using the "GPX File" button on a cache page.

Now when you see a cache you like, add it to a list. Make a Pocket Query from that list, and place all the pocket Queries into your GPSr. Make Pocket Queries of entire towns you visit, too. There's a link to very detailed info about how to make Pocket Queries here: https://www.geocaching.com/pocket/

The only thing missing is Garmin-specific info: "Place GPX files into Garmin/GPX".

Important: Before loading a lot of stuff, back up everything in the Garmin/GPX folder, and then delete those files. Garmin GPSrs get confused by basic vs. premium "GPX" files. Start fresh, and things should go well.
