northcountrytrackers
My Etrex 10 was working fine and then all of a sudden when I try to load a new cache it won't save to the device. The Garmin plug in is working and finds my device. The device is in mass storage mode. Tried different usb cables and ports Did a master reset When I click 'send to gps', the pop up screen shows the Garmin, but when I click 'write'. it shows F:/Garmin/gpx/GC2175J.GPX (this is an example of a specific cache) and does not say "successfully saved". This is the case with any cache I try to load. The cache does not show up on the device or in the GPX file when accessed on my laptop. (nor does it show up in waypoints or anywhere else) Uploading caches worked fine on my etrex 10 previously (I can't think of anything I've changed) and my etrex vista loads caches fine although it's not a 'mass storage device'. So my question is: Has anybody had this problem and been able to fix it or does anyone have some relevant advice? Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
Has anybody had this problem and been able to fix it or does anyone have some relevant advice? You didn't mention which Operating System you're using, but if it's Windows 10, you will use IE11 and not the default browser called "Edge". I got Garmin Communicator working in Windows 10 by following the steps here: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=334207&view=findpost&p=5538114 (I post a link since there are several things to consider when you do that) You may instead place GPX files directly into the GPX folder of a Garmin GPSr, thus bypassing the plugin. And you may have the file copied in a fraction of the time it takes to fix the plugin when it breaks. Download the GPX file from Geocaching.com. (For a zipped Pocket Query, unzip the file, and you should now have at least one GPX file.) Plug the Garmin into the USB port of the computer. Find the Garmin as a [DRIVE] or [storage device] and open it; Therein, locate a file folder named something like Garmin/GPX/; Click, drag and drop (or copy) the downloaded GPX file(s) to that [DRIVE]:Garmin/GPX/ folder. Right-click and select Eject, unplug the Garmin; Go Geocaching. (From Gitchee-Gumee's excellent instructions) Edited October 2, 2015 by kunarion Quote Link to comment
