jhuoni
I recently had to replace my phone and am now unable to use several location based apps like HMDB mobile and Chiliheads Waymarking Mobile. They were all working fine and then... They all just stopped getting my location data. I have checked the obvious. Google Maps still shows my location, Geocaching app works. When I log into WM mobile I get: "Geolocation Permission not given for use of hesitation". I did notice that the little "radar dish" icon that used to show when I opened said apps no longer appears. I've tried it both in Wi-Fi and LTE modes. Tech stuff: HTC desire 520 Android 5.1 HTC Sense 7.0 Thanks for your attention and suggestions. Quote Link to comment
StefandD
WiFi and LTE? That gives you no location, only a cruse sense of where you might be. The only thing that gives you a precise location is GPS. I believe in Android 5.x, it's called 'Location' or 'Location Service' or something like that. Quote Link to comment
jhuoni
Update: Running Firefox everything works fine. It must be something with Chrome on my end. I can live with Firefox, I guess. All that matters is I am able to run Chiliheads website from my phone. Shameless plug? Maybe. Quote Link to comment
Manville Possum
Shameless plug? Maybe. Do you have a link that works? I can't seem to find it. Quote Link to comment
MountainWoods
I haven't been able to use Chilihead's site for a long time now. It won't stay logged in. It worked for a while, but then stopped many months ago -- not quite a year, I don't think. Cookies are enabled and all that, but you log in and it immediately tells you that you need to log in. However, I admit that I've always only tried it from Chrome and Dolphin (the latter I finally gave up on because it kept crashing). Perhaps I should try it from Adblock Browser. Quote Link to comment
jhuoni
Are you using http://geotrailsw.com/wm ? I haven't had any problems with it until now, and I believe it is Chrome that is the problem. What I like the most is I no longer have to carry a GPS. I can just create a new waymark, grab the coords, put in some quick notes, and even take some pics and upload them if I want. On the flip side, no matter where I am I can bring it up and see what waymarks are close by. Or use the map to find areas I want to go to. Based on this you can probably see how upsetting it was when it stopped working. Quote Link to comment
Manville Possum
I'm getting the same "Geolocation Permission not given", so it must be Chrome. Quote Link to comment
MountainWoods
Wow. I hadn't been using this for over a year because of the inability to stay logged in. That must be because of Chrome too (and Dolphin). I just tried in Adblock Browswer and it keeps me logged in. Yahoo. Of course, if I close the browser and restart with a bookmark, I have to login again. But I went ahead and told AB to remember my login, so it's only a couple of extra button pushes. Thanks for bringing this back to my mind. I had given up on it, and it was just browser problems. (Is that a surprise?) Quote Link to comment
jhuoni
Well that was short lived. Firefox update tonight, now it doesn't work again. Quote Link to comment
MountainWoods
Not sure it was your Firefox update. I used it for one day on a trip this week and it worked on that day (Sunday). Since then, it is all messed up on both of my Android browsers -- Chrome and Adblocker Browser (really based on Firefox). It doesn't come up like it had been on Sunday (8 May) at all. It isn't usable at this point. BTW, it wasn't even totally usable then. I logged a visit to one of BruceS's waymarks in southern Arkansas, but the app would not let me upload any photos. I could select them. It said it was uploading them. But they would not show on my visit. I had to bring up the browser and log in and upload the photos that way. Too inconvenient to do more than one visit, so I gave up logging the other visits with the app. (I've yet to do them on the PC, since I just returned from the trip.) Then later in the week I thought I'd at least see what waymarks were near me (in Pensacola), but that's when I noticed that the display from the app was hosed (to use a technical term). +jhuoni
I checked with Chilehead. He had been doing some work to it. As of tonight, it should be working again. Quote Link to comment
