+Ballynoes
Hi All, I have only been Geocaching for a couple of weeks, and although I am having great fun, I am still a bit green, so be gentle with me. I have the concept of most of the Caches and have been finding my feet quickly. My question is about Multicaches, I understand the concept about solving one clue and moving to the next "Cache" for the next clue. My question is "how do you identify the FIRST cache clue in a series" OR is the cache on the map the first clue anyway. I'm a little confused, but being a newbie I expected the odd problem. I tried to search the forum but did not find my answer. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for a great hobby, me and my dog love the walks. Quote Link to comment
+palmetto
"how do you identify the FIRST cache clue in a series" Most of the time it will be at the listing coordinates, "cache on the map". There are older multi-caches of different design, and it's possible for a multi-cache to NOT be sequential - sometimes all the coordinates for all the places you need to visit are supplied, and you can do them in any order. Once you found all of them, you'll have enough information to locate and sign the Final. Link below for multi-cache definition in the guidelines (note that this is CURRENT, and older multi-caches will sometimes offer parking coords as listing coords (and other oddball stuff), and you'll need to carefully read the cache page to figure out how to proceed. With a multi-cache, if you have listing coords (map coords) and read the cache page, you should be able to finish. No complex puzzle solving, though you may have to some simply arithmetic. http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#multicache Multi-Caches The coordinates posted at the top of the cache listing are for the first stage of a multi-cache.
