Geocaching with Kids- Buy a Geomate Jr or regular GPS?

We are looking to start Geocaching as a family. We've never done it before. We have a 3 year old and I was wondering if we should by the Geomate Jr or buy a regular GPS. The price difference isn't substantial and I'm afraid that we'll "grow out of" the Geomate Jr too quickly. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I would say go with the regular GPS. If for whatever reason you decide you don't want it, it would be easier to sell. A unit made only for geocaching is only useful to geocaches. A normal one us useful to anyone who wants one (in general. Not counting model specific features.) Plus I don't think there are additional options for maps on the geomatw, and there's all sorts of mounts and accessories for a GPS as well.

Those geomates only go for around seventy bucks. I feel you get what you pay for.

Seems every time I hear of that geomate thing, someone's looking for upgrades, where to buy cables, or when the site's coming back online.

I agree with the others, a real GPSr is the way to go.

Curious what "we have a 3 year old" has to do with your purchase. :)
