Walts Hunting
Unless they were smart enough to change the boot up screen to personal info there's not much hope. If you have the coordinates where you found it you could search and put a note on the closest caches. Quote Link to comment
baack40
Do you know if it is the type of gps that you can log field notes on? If so might be able to see which caches they were at and when and check those caches to see who logged them on those dates. Just a thought. Good luck. I know the owner would be thrilled to get it back. Quote Link to comment

kunarion
I found a gps and would like to get it back to the owner Are there saved caches or waypoints, or tracks? The place you found it will be a huge clue. Leave a Cache log if you found it at or between Geocaches. As mentioned, there may be a file with field notes, and that is in text that can be read in a text editor. I place an address label inside the battery compartment of mine. Is there contact info? A local cacher left his GPSr at a cache. The next cacher found it and ribbed him about losing it. The following week at another cache, Cacher One found Cacher Two's misplaced GPSr. Edited November 1, 2014 by kunarion Quote Link to comment
JohnCNA
You could always try contacting Garmin customer service and see if they have it registered. They shouldn't give you the person's contact info, but you could give them your contact info and ask that they contact the owner on your behalf. I did this with a camera I found once. +Lil Devil
A few years ago I found a GPS near a cache. It had a waypoint named "Home" on it that wasn't far off my route to my own home. So I stopped by to return it to the owner who was very appreciative. Quote Link to comment
joshuar9476
Dang ... it wouldn't happen to be a bluetooth Garmin Glo that was in the woods of the Blue River Park north of Shelbyville? I lost it there in June after finding Once Was. I ended up having to buy a new one. Quote Link to comment
