+Kenr74
Has anybody actually ordered from www.gpsexplorer.com? I put an order in yesterday morning and got an onscreen confirmation with order number but haven't seen anything from them since that. Credit card has been charged but nothing actually from them. They guarantee to ship the same day if the order is in by 1pm EST and the item is in stock. They also say they will provide a tracking # when it ships. I ordered around noon EST and the item said it was in stock so I assumed it would ship yesterday but I haven't heard anything at all from them. I emailed them this morning about it and have not gotten a response yet. It is a gift I need by Friday so I'm hoping they aren't playing games and I have to find one locally at the last minute. Then claim to have great customer service but I'm having my doubts. Edited March 9, 2005 by Kenr74 Quote Link to comment
+Jerseytrex
Ok people, I emailed someone at GPS Explorer myself and I did receive a confirmation email yesterday stating that my order was being processed and that the item should ship soon and that another email will be sent once the item ships. I was kind of getting pissed off too. So that was a day ago and if I do not receive an email stating the item is in the mail tomorrow then I'm planning on calling and laying into them. They had so much great feedback from My Simon.com that I figured they were legit and they are Better Business members so I dont get it. MY guess is that maybe their offer is so awesome that they are inundated with orders at the moment. For now I will say to everyone to please hold off on any plans to order if you havent already and when this issue is resolved I will post the outcome. Sorry for those of you I steered into the wrong direction. I only thought it was a great deal and that my fellow cachers have the opportunity to take advantage of it. jerseytrex Quote Link to comment
+filler & bcat
$435.95 sticker for a 60CS w/ 2 $50 mail-ins. $395.95 sticker for a 60C w/ 2 $50 mail-ins also. AFAICT, one of the $50s comes straight from Garmin, while the other comes from GPSExplorer.com. The Garmin mail-in expires on Jul 05, 05. The questionable mail-in expires on Mar 31, 05. The questionable mail-in is sent to some PO Box in AZ. GPSExplorer was registered in NY, NY. I havent the foggiest if GPSExplorer contracted with some firm to handle taking and honoring the mail-ins. I suspect thats the likely case. You could always e-mail at help@GPSExplorer.com or phone at (800) 477-8910. Ive looked into this a bit, but only because I want to pop for a 60C before the end of the month. Especially if it can be had for under $300 after rebate. HTH Quote Link to comment
+Kenr74
I emailed them yesterday morning asking where my order was and never got a response. I figured I would give them 24 hours to get back to me. Just called them and finally talked to somebody after being on hold for 10 minutes. My order supposedly shipped yesterday. So the same day guarantee did NOT happen. They could not come up with a tracking # either so I doubt it has actually been shipped although my CC has been charged. I would recommend staying away from those guys. They have "great customer service" plastered all over their site but I sure haven't seen any. Quote Link to comment
+Jerseytrex
I received an email this morning stating a tracking number for my item. It is currently sitting at the FedEx sorting facility in Woodbridge. Meaning I shall have my item some time tomorrow. Their "Great" customer service appears to be alot of hot wind. However, if I receive a Garming Legend C for $219 I am willing to put up with the crappy customer service. Also, I have received several rebate checks from other companies in the past where the mailing address was for Tempe Arizona etc... I believe there is a very large marketing firm located there that is a subcontracted company dealing with rebate fulfillment. I will post again tomorrow. Jerseytrex Quote Link to comment
+Kenr74
Good to hear yours in on the way! I was getting nervous that they may have taken some of us. I was really hoping to have mine tomorrow to but I still don't even have a tracking #. Saved some $$ but they sure haven't lived up to their promises. Quote Link to comment
+pqcachers
Ok well now I'm nervous. I ordered on Friday and I got an email with a tracking number Tuesday. It shows "unable to track shipment" on the UPS website. So i called GPSExplorer today and they couldn't figure out why. The lady said they'd ship another one out today. Sure enough I got the email with tracking number. But, yes, you guessed it, it still says the same thing. I sure hope these guys aren't shysters. Quote Link to comment
+primofam
Like several before me, I've placed my order. Have called them twice to 'verify' my shipping address. Have gotten an email saying it is shipping. I've gotten no shipping tracking number yet. I would imagine if enough emails to their "excellent customer service" starting coming in, it might help. +Kenr74
I just spent an hour on hold before finally talking to somebody. They could not come up with a tracking # for my order that should have shipped on Tuesday. I finally told the guy that I either wanted a tracking number or I would have my CC company reverse the charges. He said he would work on it and call me back. Less the five minutes later I get a call saying my order never actually shipped but they were sending one out to me next day air so I should have it Monday. I'm not holding my breath. Just my opinion but I wouldn't advise anybody to deal with them. They are either overwhelmed or just plain dishonest. Quote Link to comment
+pqcachers
Hooray! Not to worry folks! They really DID ship one out yesterday and I got it today. I don't know whatever happened with the first one they supposedly shipped. We'll see if we end up with two. Off to play with my new toy..... Quote Link to comment

+Jerseytrex
Got my new Garmin Legend C Today! Everything checks out just fine here. Brand new in box. Now for getting my rebates taken care of. One is with Garmin so that should be fine. Its this company I am worried about. I'm terribly sorry so many of you are not pleased. If I knew their customer service sucked this bad I would have stated so from the beginning. But as I said, I can vouch that they are a legit company not out to get you. Just have to be hounded constantly. I just keep telling myself, Garmin eTrex Legend C- $219. SWEET! Good luck to everyone, hope everything works out. Did not mean to send everyone out on a wild goose chase. jerseytrex Quote Link to comment

I know their site indicates they will e-mail an order confirmation and tracking number, but I had to call and ask for the info...twice!! Additionally, the GPS arrived FedEx without a packing slip ie: itemized receipt so I had to call them yet again to ask for an originial receipt for one of the two $50.00 rebates. I was told that It was not required by Garmin and they would honor both rebates. I mailed them off, now I wait to see if I receive both rebates. This is the very first time I have ordered anything mail-order and not received a packing slip. Since you are having the same issues, I would suggest calling them and waiting in que. Forget the e-mail route. Good Luck!!! Edited March 13, 2005 by WranglerTJ Quote Link to comment
+Azoutdrs
I ordered from GPSexplorer on March 9th.... emailed repeatedly, waited on hold with only one person in the cue for 40 minutes three or four times yesterday... I haven't received an order confirmation or any kind of response... did any of you have the gps shipped to an address other than your billing address? I wonder if that is compounding an already bad situation. Quote Link to comment
+Azoutdrs
update ... I actually spoke with a human being just now who said my package was shipped on March 11... due to arrive tomorrow.... FYI..... gpsexplorer... Quote Link to comment
+poodleranch
We ordered the 60CS on last Tuesday the 8th of March, and it was delivered on Friday of that week. The communication experience was not the cleanest that I have experienced with on-line retailers, but the transaction was as advertised. I see no reason why they won't honor their own $50 rebate, but time will the proof. My opinion is that to support lower prices they really cut back on the services. The ratings on MySimon, ePinions...etc were strong enough that we were willing to risk ~$400...and we are satisfied customers. Bob Quote Link to comment
+Kenr74
I also ordered mine last Tuesay on the 8th and it just showed up today. They had the worst customer service I've seen from an online company. Definitely won't be ordering from them again. Quote Link to comment
+primofam
Well, I have finally gotten my 60CS after 1 1/2 weeks of waiting and multiple calls. Now I have to try to talk to another human to see if they will send my original invoice/packing slip for the rebate offers. Nice price but quite a bit of hassle from a company that claims such wonderful support. BUT, I do like the 60CS!!! Quote Link to comment
+Half-Canadian
I ordered online from gpsexplorer.com on Sunday, March 13. Got the tracking number by email today, March 17, with an expected date of delivery March 22. No complaint from me for such a great price, even if their communication left something to be desired and they took a couple of extra days to ship. Quote Link to comment
+littlebutch
I was ready to order a Garmin gpsmap 60C from GPSEXPLORER.COM until I went to a website I use quite often, epinion.com. I asked for reviews of the company and 6 of the 8 reviews were VERY POOR about buying from them. If you look around, you can find other places that come within a few dollars of gpsexplorer's best price. I will soon offer my etrex legend for sale on this site. If you have any questions about gpsexplore or my legend unit you can email me at johnandcarol@richmond.com littlebutch Quote Link to comment
+mantis7
You can get the 76 cs from amazon.com for $349.99. Actually you can get it for $319.99 if you sign up for an amazon credit card, but $349.99 (and free shipping) is a good deal from what ive seen considering it has double the memory of the 60cs and is more water resistant. Amazon has a similar price on the 60 cs, but the 76 cs seems like a better deal. Peace Edit: there is a $50 dollar mail in rebate (I'm assuming its the same rebate no matter where you buy it) which brings it down to that price. +tnfishdaddy
I have been in the market for a 60cs but amazon's deal on the 76cs is very tempting. A buddy of mine has one and it is a little bigger but for twice the memory, I may just have to order one. Quote Link to comment
+filler & bcat
If you call them outside of business hours, a recording will mention an online order status link (in the upper right hand of any page). To the best of my abilities, I have not been able to find it. But Google did. http://www.gpsexplorer.com/status.aspx Apparently this is what you see when you phone a rep about your order. FYI: I ordered the 60cs near the close of business on Thursday. I phoned and a rep said it would go out on Friday. Its Monday and I have yet to be charged on my card. Moreover, the online order status reports my order still as unshipped. Blimey! Hope this helps ... *EDIT* I neglected to mention my having spoken with the rep about why some customers were receiving packages without billing invoices. The rep informed me it was due to GPSexplorer contracting with stock warehouses / shipping centers who are not tied into the GPSexplorer ordering system. Why? Who knows. But the rep said that the online invoice will suffice for redeeming both rebates. *EDIT 2.0* Spoke with a rep this morning. As mentioned, order went in on MAR 17, Thursday afternoon. Order was shipped sometime on Friday MAR 18 according to GPSexplorer. Rep was able to feed me a UPS Ground tracking number; UPS has had the package en route since the night of MAR 18. Whats odd is my "order status" shows my order as still unshipped/incomplete/delayed/etc. Sigh. Edited March 21, 2005 by filler Quote Link to comment
Satellite Tracker
After reading on another site that GPS Explorer had some great deals I logged on to their website and everything looked good.Decided to get a Garmin 60cs. I was a little leary about the two $50.00 rebates, that one might cancel the other out and in the end only one would work.I was going to send out a money order for the purchase but could not find a Address on their site, went to FAQ and it said yes they did accept money orders call for details.I called to see about rebates and to get address for money order.Got a recording saying that I was Customer # 10 and had a 20 minute wait. Going through the countdown with music and a message that thanks for waiting and Ann would be with me shortly, A man 20 minutes later answers.I asked about the rebates and he said no problem they both will be fine, and the one you send to GPS Explorer all is needed is just a copy of everything.I said okay I need your Address to send a money order. He said Im sorry but we don't accept money orders just credit cards.[ Red Flag Went Up] I said on your site it says that you do and to call for details. He said well..... uh we did until a month ago,but after the move we decided not to take them anymore.I said well since you don't like money or money orders then you need to put this update on your site and then hung up.There is something Fishy going on here!!! I will be buying my GPS somewhere else. Quote Link to comment
+Jerseytrex
It's been a couple of weeks and everything is just fine here. Love the new GPS and everything else checks out ok. +filler & bcat
Got my 60CS in just under 7 days (5 business days) from time of order. Original invoice _was_ included with package for rebate purposes. Nothing bad to report except to confirm the lack of automated e-mail responses to confirm order and package shipment. We shall see if the 2 x $50 rebates are fulfilled in a timely fashion. OT: WAAS-less Yellow eTrex -> 60CS ... All I can say is "Wow!" Quote Link to comment
+Half-Canadian
I just received my order for a 60CS in 6 business days from gpsexplorer. A receipt was included in the box. I received emailed confirmation and tracking numbers for both shipments in a timely manner and both orders arrived as promised. No complaints at all! Quote Link to comment

sdsdv10
For anyone considering ordering from GPS Explorer, please read the thread above and check out their rating at ResellerRating.com. It's not very good. It appears others are contending the rebate offers are a scam. I have not personal experience with this company. Just what I found from google. As for deals on the 76cs, the best I found on the web is at Newegg.com, $423 with $5 shipping. I ordered many things from Newegg (mostly computer stuff) with great results. Also their rating at resellerrating.com is excellent. Don Quote Link to comment
