Taylina
I was just wondering if many people take their pets (mostly dogs I would assume) with them while they are geocaching? Quote Link to comment
+The Jester
I would love to, but even the cats that don't mind the leash/harness have problems with going the way I want... I don't think they were geocachers, but once I met a lady with her ferret on a leash walking in the park. Quote Link to comment
+uxorious
I try to plan my cache outings with my dogs in mind. I take them as often as I can, and miss them when I don't. There is a thread in the Photography section of these forums with pictures of pets on the cache hunt. Quote Link to comment

I don't think they were geocachers, but once I met a lady with her ferret on a leash walking in the park. I love both cats and dogs, and have two of each. (We've had as many as 8 cats and 4 dogs at one time, back when the kids were younger.) The difference between them is attitude. When I go for a cache, I'm sure the cats lay around the house feeling smug that they get to stay home and the dogs have to go. Meanwhile the dogs think I love them best because I take them out to run, but make the cats stay home. [] Quote Link to comment
+SirKarp
We have a great dane. She is great in the car and has gone caching with us many times. It seems like she use to really enjoy the hiking caches, traveling around in the car, staying in motel rooms ect. My caching partner use to say that she would be happy any where as long as she gets to be near me. However as she is getting older, she still goes caching with us but it is less. It has gotten harder for her to get in and out of the minivan, and she's not so interested in the hiking, especially if it is hot out. I would have to say though, that I have found it to be a lot of fun to take my dog caching, and for that matter travelling too. Quote Link to comment
+Terrible Ts
We love taking our dog with us caching, but our concerns are when it is hot out. We don't want to leave him in the car, so that limits our eating/dining options. We have water bottle that we picked up at a pet store that looks like a large gerbil water bottle that has a ball valve in the spout. Our dog picked up on it right away. He licks it and water comes out. It looks kinda funny when we are giving him water, but he doesn't care. Our dog is also kinda hyper around people. He tends to bark a lot, until the people come over and pet him. Most people are worried that he will bite them, so they do not approach, which makes him bark more. We do not take him to events anymore. Terrible Ts Quote Link to comment

If you love a dog, feed it and care for it, it thinks you are god. If you love a cat, feed it and care for it, it thinks it's god. Or as a sign we have says "Dogs have owners, cats have staff."
