+coltillini
I recently purchased a Chromebook c720. Is there an easy way to download caches to my gps units or should I continue to use my old Dell laptop with Windows Vista. Seems like the workarounds on the Chromebook are complicated. Thanks. I use a chromebook and have no issues with my Garmin etrex 30. Works exactly the same as a PC or a MAC: 1. Download either a single gpx file or a pocket query. 2. Connect your gps unit to the chromebook via usb 3. Open the "files" app on the chromebook. You will see your downloaded gpx files in the "downloads" section and your gps unit as a storage device. 4. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select new window....you will now have two identical windows open 5. In one of the windows open your gpx folder within your gps unit storage area 6. In the other window open your downloaded file 7. Drag the downloaded file from one window to the gpx folder in the other window Remember to delete the download files on the Chromebook fairly often as there is only about 8GB of usable hard drive space on the Chromebook. +Chrysalides
I went on two long trips so far with only my Chromebook. I could copy pocket queries to my GPSr, copy new maps to it, and download field notes and upload them to gc.com without any issues. I didn't use any additional software on it. Quote Link to comment

Which make/model Chromebook do you have? I'm considering replacing an older Windows desktop system with a Chromebook, and am looking for recommendations. Quote Link to comment
