The Pineberries
I'm working a multi-cache, and the third stage's coords are different than the first two, there are not enough spaces to enter the coords. Is there a way to change the format to accept the third stages coords? Or is there a way to simplify them so they fit? Quote Link to comment
+Timpat
Can you show us an example of the coordinate string in question? Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
I'm working a multi-cache, and the third stage's coords are different than the first two, there are not enough spaces to enter the coords. Is there a way to change the format to accept the third stages coords? Or is there a way to simplify them so they fit? Do you mean geographic coordinates? At any rate... Your eTrex 10 should accept the geographical coordinates needed to find a cache. Those final stage coordinates format should appear identical to those of other stages, aside from the specific digits. In the northern part of the western hemisphere, they would appear as: N XX xx.xxx W XXX xx.xxx. This is Decimal Minute Format. How is it that you obtained the third stage coordinates? Given... as found in the second stage; or computed yourself by stage clues? Showing us a sample of the coordinates (format, or layout) would go a long way in helping to answer the question. I looked at your geocaching Finds, and see http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC72B_pine-trailhead-multi-cache , but that is only a two-stage cache. You really should find the final stage before marking it as "Found". Edited March 8, 2015 by Gitchee-Gummee Quote Link to comment

I'm not sure if they're Celestial coords, but the coords look like the examples given. Here's a example: 00* 00'0.00"N 00* 00'0.00"W Quote Link to comment
The Pineberries
Oh, we worked the first three stages the usual way, it's just the last coords that are giving us trouble. Quote Link to comment
+Timpat
Ok then. What you have is DD MM SS.ss while our traditional GPS format is DD MM.mmm You can go into the setup menu to switch the format to match them and enter the given coords, then switch the format back. Quote Link to comment
The Pineberries
Okay, Thanks so much. Quote Link to comment
+Gitchee-Gummee
While it is fine to switch the unit to and from... Generally it is easier to just convert the coordinates. You can do so here: http://boulter.com/gps/ Quote Link to comment
