+ComedyAddict
I can't believe I'm asking for help on a Megallen.. lol. I'm helping someone who just bought a new PC try to get VantagePoint running on it, and have a question. Is there anyone here with Windows 8.1 who managed to get this to work with the GC Api, ie, authorizing, downloading PQ, etc. It keeps giving error saying it cannot connect to GC server. I've temporarily disabled the firewall just to make sure it's not blocking it and it didn't make a difference. Or any other idea's I can try, before insisting she use GSAK. Thanks... +geoff511
Am having the same problem ... I have a PC running Win 8.1 and a Laptop .. PC works fine, I can log into the geocaching.com server, but the Laptop keeps giving the error 'can't connect to geocaching.com server' Have uninstalled Vantagepoint and gone thru the registry and deleted every mention of VP, + turned off Win Firewall .. then re-installed VP - no change. Have also asked Magellan if they can find a fix .. but not holding breath on them getting back to me. If anyone else has the problem or had it and knows why the VP program cannot get access to the internet and how to fix, it would be very much appreciated. Quote Link to comment

You've already gone through the basics, have you tried system recovery and re-installing VP? Sometimes deleting system registry won't help, only backing up to previously unconfigured settings do the trick. Quote Link to comment
+ComedyAddict
It just starting working for her at some stage. Not sure if she had done any further Windows updates or not. I suspect that might be the case though. Knowing her, it probably started working after restarting the computer, sometime after doing an update. However, she's since damaged her Magellen and has bought a Garmin now and no longer needs VP. Hope you figure this out geoff511 Am having the same problem ...
