iluvfire
I have recently jumped into Waymarking and have been trying to contribute to to community by posting some new waymarks. For some odd reason, about 60% of the pictures I have uploaded are turned clockwise or counter-clockwise 90 degrees and I have been unable to find a way to fix this. I take all my photos with an iPhone. As I stated, some are just fine, but others not so much. This has led to several of my waymarks to be declined (for good reason). Any suggestions on how to fix this. Perhaps I am just missing a simple step. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
cerberus1
My other 2/3rds didn't realize that her phone had to be "sideways" to take a pic, otherwise it'd come up sideways (for everyone who doesn't have an apple product). iPhone to iPhone, to iPad, etc has that autocorrect thingy. Lately, it's doing it (but not all the time...) even with the "volume up". If the pics are going into your gallery, you can click on the pic, edit image , and rotate 'em from there. +iluvfire
I will have to try turning my phone sideways. I know I thought about that, I just can't remember which ones took that way and if they worked out. As far as the gallery goes, the only option I have is to delete the photo. I will have to continue working with this to see if I can figure it out. Quote Link to comment
BruceS
Either take all your photos holding phone horizontally or you can use software to remove the 'orientation' setting from the photos and then rotate them and upload them. (Just rotating the photos does not fix problem completely) It is not just a problem with iPhone photos but any photos taken by a camera that sets the orientation of photos. I used to remove the 'orientation' setting using ExifCleaner, now I make the changes in Lightroom. Edited March 28, 2015 by BruceS Quote Link to comment
iluvfire
Thanks Bruce. I will look into that. Update: ExifCleaner worked like a champ. That allowed my to edit the photos and save the edits and correction. Thanks for the suggestions. Edited March 28, 2015 by iluvfire Quote Link to comment
skramble
Either take all your photos holding phone horizontally or you can use software to remove the 'orientation' setting from the photos and then rotate them and upload them. I used to remove the 'orientation' setting using ExifCleaner, now I make the changes in Lightroom. I've got a better way (at least from a PC). Rather than using commercial software, I right click the photo, choose Send to Mail Recipient, open the attachment and save a copy, then upload it. No problema. Guess it sorts out the orientation issues in translation. Quote Link to comment
