+palmetto
If you've hunted for a cache and not found it, log a Did Not Find. If quite a few people have already logged DNFs, this could indicate that the cache is missing - though if the cache has a higher difficulty rating, it may be present, and people are simply not finding it. If many people have already logged DNFs with no cache owner response, especially on a cache that was being found with no DNF logs previously, log a Needs Archived. That log will be seen by a local reviewer, who can decide what action to take. Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
How does one report a cache that appears to be missing? Help Center → Finding a Geocache → Logging a Geocache 4.2. What log type should I use? http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=534 What's the GC code of the cache in question? B. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
You don't report a cache missing. For one, outside rare cases, you don't KNOW it's missing for a fact. So log a DNF and let the cache owner sort it out. Once a pattern of DNFs appears a responsible owner will check on the cache. If there are already a lot of consecutive DNFs, you could log a "needs maintenance" to get the cache owner's attention. Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
I haven't had to report a cache missing. If I Did Not Find it, I log a "Did Not Find". Go figure. When I return to a cache site and the container is not in its place anymore, and there have been no updates on the cache page that anything changed, I make a log that I "found it before but not today". Agreed - especially in light of this item in the OP's profile: No finds have been reported. Quote Link to comment

+Wells GeocachingCrew
What if the owner hasn't checked on the cache in over a year and the last 6 logs are DNFs with 2 needs maintenenance and the owner does not respond to messages? Should it still just be logged as DNF? Quote Link to comment

In my opinion, log a DNF if you looked for it and couldn't find it. If the last "needs maintenance" was a month or more ago, also log "Needs Archived," stating what you have here: 6 (or 7 with yours) DNFs in a row, two requests for maintenance with no response, cache owner not responding to email either. Should it still just be logged as DNF? See Post #2 by my fellow reviewer, palmetto. Sounds ripe for a "Needs Archived" to attract a reviewer's attention, since the DNF and NM logs did not attract the owner's attention. Quote Link to comment
