KY Jon
I would like to hide a new cache, and I am trying to make sure the location is not too close to other caches, but I'm getting conflicting information about it. When I stand in the new location, my iPhone app says that there are three locations nearby (all at least .2 miles away), but when I look at the location map on this web site, it shows about ten locations, a couple of which appear to be too close to mine. Am I to assume that the app does not show all of them? Also, if it doesn't, is there a way to change that so that I can see all of them when using the app? Thank you! Quote Link to comment
+TriciaG
The free app doesn't show all the caches, especially if you're a basic member. Use/trust the website instead. Quote Link to comment

I would go but the circles shown on the geocaching placement page rather than using the app, particularly if it's the intro app. You may have to take into account stages of multi or puzzle caches too but that's potentially more complex than this thread warrants. +MtnMutt-ProDuckShins
Premium Members Only & then there is the Final of a Multi not show on Map and of course the Mystery Caches. So much to grasp but given time you'll be having more fun than you could imagine... Good Luck Quote Link to comment
+niraD
You are a basic member. You can not see the premium caches. Upgrade to see all the caches.Although even premium members won't see the final stages for multi-caches, the solutions to puzzle caches, etc. There will always be caches that don't appear on the map, that still count towards the saturation guidelines when you're trying to hide a new cache. Pup Patrol
You are a basic member. You can not see the premium caches. Upgrade to see all the caches. There is more to it than that. It's not just PMO caches that you need to be concerned with when attempting place a new cache. Help Center → Hiding a Geocache → Review Process: Hiding a Geocache 1.15. Checking for Geocache Saturation http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=199 snippet: Hidden stages or off-limit areas Even if a spot appears to be available on the map, it doesn't guarantee that spot is an open location for your cache. Neither the planning map or the Search shows hidden stages of geocaches, mystery finals, stages of multi-caches, unpublished caches or areas off limits to geocaching (such as a nature preserve). See Understanding the Geocache Planning Map for more information. If you see mystery geocache with posted (bogus) coordinates within 2 miles of your chosen location, its final location might be near your proposed geocache. Many, but not all, multi-caches start and finish in the same area too. So solving mysteries and multi-caches in the vicinity will greatly increase your knowledge of whether your proposed geocache location is available. B. Quote Link to comment
